Overview
About Me
I like to think I'm caring, conscientious and genuine, and as long as you tick those things off I'd like to meet you.
I work in film exhibition and fervently try to make the most of what London offers in terms of culture. You can find me cycling to a club night, catching an exhibition at the Barbican or eating at a pop-up restaurant in true East London style...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Trying to learn and unlearn about others and myself, and make connections/exchange kindness outside my comfortable bubble.
After studying for a year in Canada I spent a while travelling the US via Couchsurfing with wonderful people, but was rarely able to return the favour while living in student houses.
Now I'm able to welcome guests to my comfortable, well-located apartment, and visit the world vicariously through your stories!
Interests
I drink in details and (over)analyse, whether that's applied to film, music or a beautiful landscape. I'm passionate about a few things, interested in a huge number, and master of none...
- literature
- film festivals
- cooking
- drinking
- traveling
- electronic music
- piano
- languages
- urban exploration
- film
Music, Movies, and Books
People will always argue about the 'prime' and the 'decline', but it remains that London is a super exciting place to be for music at the moment. I try to support the local scene of boundary-pushing electronic producers and DJs... and there's way more to it than house and techno!
Working at one of the UK's key film organisations means I love talking about releases and trends - I can't call myself a buff but love to make & take recommendations.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Far from a wonder of the world, but stumbling across a derelict Communist-era holiday resort on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria was one turning point in how I view travel: what counts as an area of interest; what makes an indelible memory; what rich experience can be had by making the effort to connect to a place and learn its history.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not too bad on the piano, although pretty rusty as of the last year or two. I'd always be happy to help someone learn, and in turn I'd be glad to learn a non-classical approach.
If you can help me with Python, C++ or another key language then you'll get an extra-warm welcome. Ditto if you can show me new music production techniques.
My French is reasonable and if you're a beginner I should be able to help you refresh some grammar or learn some new vocab. I'm looking to learn (snippets of) any new languages, with Spanish at the forefront of my wish list.
More generally, I'm more than willing to do any cooking or washing that might help a host out.
What I Can Share with Hosts
