About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience as much of the world as possible
ABOUT ME
I am a graduate student at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg studying Engineering Education. I'm a daytime person, I get sleepy when it gets dark and the large crowds in dark enclosed spaces which most people consider "night life" don't jive with me. I'm much more interested in soaking in the natural world around me during the daytime with small groups of people. I strive to be conscious of my environmental footprint and do what I can to reduce my negative impact on our planet, at times I can come across as a militant hippie tree hugger but personally I don't think I'm all that radical. I also like gadgets and electronics and technology in general, and am encouraged that there is a trend to adapt technology to help solve some of the environmental problems we are faced with. Though I keep a healthy amount of scepticism regarding the use of new technology, especially when it is purported to solve problems created by old technolog. I suppose to summarize: I am a bleeding heart liberal treehugging hippie queer technogeek sci-fi dork who tries to live life by my own strict ethics and morals of fairness, conservation and... I dunno, how about personal enlightenment?
PHILOSOPHY
Seems like I kind of hit on this in the about me section. I feel that we all should live with an awareness of all other life on this planet that we all must share. I try to do what I can to make a positive impact on the world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted many times and surfed just once. And since Blacksburg doesn't have that many travelers coming through I enjoy the local meetups that we plan every so often.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
How about one of each, seen and done. While in the middle of the Chesapeak Bay on a small boat I saw a waterspout touch down less than a mile away and two others forming closer. I had never seen a tornado before so it was pretty exciting for me. I have done a shark dive in Roatan which was pretty amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I cook a lot, but I'm by no means an expert. I enjoy making bread and pie. I can somewhat play the violin, though I don't practice as regularly as I should. I know how to swim pretty well. I know how to build electronic circuits. I know how to live a happy life in a society with increasingly misplaced values.
I'd like to learn how I can be more present at times. I'd also like to learn how to sail.
