Hi! My name is Haley, and I am looking to connect with like-minded individuals who seek out the core characteristics of Couchsurfing. I am extremely passionate about traveling; my partner and I backpacked in Europe for a total of two months this past year. During our second trip, we fell in love with the Couchsurfing community and what it had to offer, staying with 3 separate hosts during our time in the EU. After experiencing what these individuals did for us, we strive to open our home to others (when we can) to hopefully give back even an ounce of the exuberance we felt staying with our amazing hosts.

A little about me- I enjoy bouldering, reading in my hammock, hiking, biking or long boarding in the park, and binge watching TV shows. I'm a huge nerd, I love anime and have spent way too much money on my manga collection. I love playing games, whether that be board games, card games, or video games on my PC and Nintendo Switch; my favorite video game is Hollow Knight!! I play trumpet in my community band, I have been playing for over a decade. I am returning to college next semester to start classes for Cybersecurity and could not be more excited to get back into learning. I have been a Nursing Assistant for the past five years, but now want to follow a career that has more flexibility for my passion for traveling and aligns with my life plan of moving out of the United States.

I am not a party person or a club-goer, I am quite introverted and prefer to be aware of my surroundings at all times. A drink or two with dinner is fine, but no late-night, crazy shenanigans with me :) Let’s focus more on actively engaging with one another and staying present; this experience won’t last forever!

I am currently residing in Louisville, but I am originally from a small town in Kentucky where the idea of traveling by sleeping on a strangers couch is the most absurd thing they've ever heard. I push against this way of thinking; I believe that life begins just outside of your comfort zone. As the only woman of my siblings, I was raised to believe there are more bad people than good people, but I believe that is hardly the case. We should all embrace one another, accept awkwardness as a uniquely human characteristic, and have faith that the world is still full of kind people. I want to prove to myself and others that traveling this way is possible and safe!!

Books- East of Eden by John Steinbeck, Dark Places by Gillian Flynn, and The Animators by Kayla Rae Whitaker. Books on mindfulness practices and healing. My favorite manga are Attack on Titan, Berserk, Monster, and Chainsaw Man.

Music- Queen, Billie Eilish, Ritt Momney, Tyler Childers, Tame Impala, Glass Animals, Snarky Puppy, Dizzy Gillespie, anything classical. I have such a wide variety of music, it’s difficult sticking to one genre or artist!
