About Me

*I would only be possible to host after Mid-August 2019.*

Hi all, my name is Han. I am currently a master student studying anthropology in Amsterdam. I have been here for almost a year since I left my home town Taipei, Taiwan. I have been quite busy writing my thesis and settling down in my new home lately. But now that summer is here, I am looking forward to go to nature and explore the city once again.

Before arriving in Amsterdam, I worked as a walking tour guide. I also worked in an environmental NGO for two years, in charge of event planning and fundraising. I value social equality and sustainability, and talk about politics and stuff. My thesis, the biggest pain in my life currently, is about Taiwanese and Chinese female migrants in the Netherlands.

I like cycling, hiking or walking, singing, going to markets and museums, and started to learn dancing a bit (but still very self-conscious about it).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's cliche to say I want to meet people from everywhere but it is true regardlessly. I think in the setting of hanging out or hosting someone for a longer period of time gives both of us more opportunities to learn better about each other and the cultures and stories we carry. Though I haven't been an active Couchsurfer but I met a good friend via this platform. So I've had very positive expectation of Couchsurfing! :D

I'm living in a big old house with some friends in Amsterdam and it may be a nice chance to do hosting at last. I didn't really have space to host until now.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
I can teach you Chinese, and Taiwanese history and politics (with China), and have the discussion of "What is anthropology anyway?" (Hint: I don't have a concrete answer yet either.)

Learn:
I am learning Dutch at the moment which I find really interesting and quite fulfilling actually. And I like language learning in general too so I would like to learn whatever language you speak! It would also be fun if I get to learn some basic stuff of any music instrument. (I used to play piano and euphonium but I now only remember the basic)

Share:
I have tons of (modest) tinder stories, hahaha. And of course, the moral and lessons I learned from them.
