About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Building quality relationships in my personal and professional life.

ABOUT ME

Howdy y'all! lol. I'm originally from the south so it seems appropriate to start off with that. However, that doesn't mean I'm a dumb redneck bigot. Maybe more like a neo-hippie but I keep myself too well groomed to fit that bill totally. lol.

I enjoy most athletic endeavors, and I try to maintain a relatively healthy diet. I love road trips, and I'm a great person to turn to when you need unbiased advice. In most circumstances I'm able to be present and enjoy the moment or at the very least, in those rare, truly miserable experiences, I try to learn from it and grow. I'm deeply compassionate, and totally goofy if need be (what can I say, I love to make people laugh/smile.)

I'm always looking for other kind, creative, open-minded folks like me. Where are you hiding?

PHILOSOPHY

I'm learning that when it comes to personal beliefs, less is more. I keep it simple...

I live to give love because happiness is only real when shared.

I don't mean in some crazy overzealous way, but being nice (giving love) in the often unnoticed moments. Simple things like a friendly wave or nod to the person whose car I happen to be walking in front of, striking up light conversation with the lone elderly person waiting for the same bus, learning the name of the person that asks you for change almost every day, and calling him/her by that name in the future, etc...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't participate yet, but that will change over time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

none...yet.

Interests

I tend to be a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to life experiences in general; if I'm with someone that's passionate about what we're doing, I'm probably enjoying myself. This is definitely my favorite way to experience life. I guess you could say I enjoy having a fun, informed "guide" when trying new things.

(The only specifics I can think to list are my two deepest passions, music [I'm a singer/songwriter/piano player/amateur producer] and soccer [I'm always down for watching just about any league, MLS included, lol, and I'm currently working on getting back in playing shape.])

Music, Movies, and Books

Books) Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig, The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe by Douglas Adams, The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz. (Movies) Princess Bride, Labyrinth, and Dark Crystal(duh on all three of those since I grew up in the 80's, right?) Fight Club, Hitchhiker's Guide, Into the Wild, Anchorman, Grandma's Boy, 40-yr Old Virgin, The Game, Usual Suspects, Fight Club. (Music) If you cut me I bleed a melody, so let's talk music!(NIN, Billy Joel, Fischerspooner, 311, Tori Amos, Gorillaz, Robbie Williams, Depeche Mode, Jamiroquai, The Cure, The Faint, Counting Crows, Simon and Garfunkel, but that's only the VERY beginning of an incredibly long list of the older stuff I like. I don't even know where to begin with the new stuff considering the insane amount of music we have access to these days. Feel free to expose me to new music! )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two-for-one answer:

1. Writing music is the most amazing thing I've done. I'm still humbled by my ability to create something that can't be destroyed.

2. I was fortunate enough to attend two matches at the '94 World Cup in Dallas (a six hour drive from my hometown.) Looking back, this was my introduction to a much larger existence. It was so amazing seeing all the incredible people from around the world. I can still vividly remember the two crazy German fans sitting next to me wearing lederhosen...in 115+ heat!
