About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn new skills to help me better serve my community through massage, gardening, advocacy, and ecological monitoring.

ABOUT ME

Hard-working, free-minded, caring. Absurd.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

For community and inspiration.

Interests

Nomadic culture, ancestral knowledge, bards and storytellers. Desert arroyos and oases, lizards, poisonous critters, cacti and succulents, swimming in freshwater, caverns and holes in the wall, old growth forests, pitch black night and countless stars, carnivorous plants, magical plants, gnarly gardens, ruins (ancient and recent) amoebas, nematoads, tardigrades, mycelium, broken windows, inhospitable climes, thunderstorms, blizzards, pounding rain and hail, eccentric stone architecture, industrial wastelands, freight trains, unstable structures, being tossed around in hurricane oceans and sleeping amongst the dunes, horseshoe crabs, whirlpools, the everglades, orchids, strange birds, the gila mountains, mullien as toilet paper. Music, Movies, and Books

My music collection is all over the place from modern pop to Motown, psychedelic space jazz to industrial, seventies rock and roll to epic ambient soundscapes. Music has to suck pretty hard for me to not like it, but on the other hand it takes something remarkable for me to fall in love with it.

My favorite books are the ones I reference weekly: Pojar, Sibley, All the Rain Promises and More. And thesauri.

I also love fiction. Annie Proulx, Annie Dillard, Sherman Alexie, Neil Gaiman, Joy Williams, Michael Ondaatje and Alice Munro are a few of my favorite authors.

I don't watch much teevee. I listen to hella podcasts though. What are your favorites? I'm always looking for new ones. Really diggin the Heart, Twenty Thousand Hertz, Reveal, Love and Radio, Criminal, Ear Hustle, Snap Judgement, and 99% Invisible lately.

As for movies, give me historical fiction, documentaries, suspense thrillers and dark comedy.

I'm not gonna lie, I copy and pasted this segment from my dating profile :/

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, I've done a lot of pretty amazing things, but the most recent is I crushed off the end of my middle finger between a rock and a dumb place, and joined the amputee club. Best club ever, I'll have you know. Amputees are rad.

Teach, Learn, Share

Some gardening, A&P & kinesiology, ecology, plant medicine. I love hanging out with kids, teaching them about the natural world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can make some good meals and I love to help on small projects and can do some tidying. I am handy with tools and small repairs. And if you like stories I might have a few... I've led a strange and beautiful life.
