About Me

(I'm not currently in Turkey so I won't be able to meet up)

Hey! I'm Fundagül from Turkey. I'm in love with travelling and learning languages. I've seen most of the south, west and east of Turkey. Right now I'm doing my exchange in Amsterdam. One of the things I long to accomplish is to travel the world by bike with another bike-lover, reliable, positive person! Although I'm studying Western Literatures at university, I'm much more fond of Asian countries. I'm in love with their cultures and stuff!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to be in contact with the world to know as many people as I can, because one can never know where his/her soul sister/brother is! I hate the feeling of being stuck in one place for a long time, so travelling is my saviour. I'd like to meet up people who is open minded, energetic, cool with small problems while travelling, fond of liberty and eager to discover the undiscovered.

Interests

* Everything about bicycles! Reading blogs and watching videos about bicycles, buying stuff for my bicycle (I have a BATAVUS CHAMPION VINTAGE RACE BIKE, which I call shortly as SAKURA), trying to build a technical knowledge about bicycles by doing researches on my own, books about bicycles, events about bicycles and even anime with bicycles... I like to go for a ride alone and discover myself along with gaining new experiences, adventures and misadventures. My longest ride is 70 km (45 miles) due to the time and weather (and athletic skill :D) problems, I'm planning to go on longer rides when the weather is nicer in the Netherlands.

*Absolutely watching movies! I'm in love with Hayao Miyazaki and I can die peacefully after I get to his country even once. He inspired me to make my own movies, which I have no idea where to start. But I want to contribute to the musical movie culture of my country, which is a very weak area indeed.

*Animes! I cannot help finishing an anime series in one day... My favorites are Samurai Champloo, Tokyo Ghouls, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, Welcome to NHK, Cowboy Bebop, Sailor Moon, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Usagi Doroppu, School Rumble and many more....

*THEATRE... I'm ashamed to watch my first theatre at the age of 20. But anyway, this experience stirred something inside me, I remembered to live. Nothing can keep me from watching plays every time I see one, especially if it is a musical!

*Reading books has been my favourite interest since my childhood, showing me the light after a dark long day. Recently I have met Japanese literature and we decided to not leave each other forever.

*I'm also passionate about DIYs, recently I'm fond of making little figures with wool-felting, are not they really cute? ^^

*Music, especially singing is something i cannot live without. Hope to buy a nice guitar and improve my guitar skills.

*Martial arts and yoga: Did i tell you that I Iove everything about Asia? Yes? Okay...

Music, Movies, and Books

Is it not so hard to choose one's favourite books and movies?I'd rather not answer this...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I've ever done is to join a project in my school, which is to bring the atmosphere from outside and transfer it to the prisoners on remand inside via creative drama. It changed all my perception and point of view.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can take my culture, my big smile, my adventures (and funny misadventures) and my dreams wherever I go. We can cook together and exchange our cultural knowledge.
