Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Heather. I live just outside of Stockholm, Sweden, near the city yet on a lake, near the forest, and the climbing cliff Örnberg (for the outdoor climbers out there). I come from Canada, and lived in Denmark for 15 years with my husband until we decided to move to Sweden in 2022.
In Canada I worked as a childcare worker, in Denmark as a Pharmacy Technician, and in Sweden I am a Quality Documentation Engineer. In some ways I'm a restless soul which is reflected in my change of career and change of country/culture. I'm not sure what the future holds for me and only time will tell. But there are still many places I want to see in the world, cultures I want to learn about, and people I want to connect with along the way, all of which will change the direction my life takes. This is scary yet very exciting!
I do not have children, but I do have two cats: Pippi and Mr. Mistoffelees. Pippi is generally scared of new people so you will probably only see glimpses of her, and Mr. Mistoffelees can take a little time to warm up to people. During the winter months we go for walks with them every evening, but during the summer they often play enough outside during the day that they just want to relax in the evenings.
We have a large yard so there is plenty of space for tents, outdoor activities, small bonfires, bbq's and I can take you for hikes in the surrounding area, rent a kayak or canoe, help you get comfortable with the city so you can get around.
It was several years ago that I last travelled or hosted a couchsurfer and I'm in a new country now. If you're interested in staying here, please make reference to which activity I do with my cats in the winter so I have an idea that you've read my profile.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To open my home to those who need a place to rest their head and regroup after a day or night of travel. To connect with people. To offer a safe space for women travelling alone, for fellow lgbt+ folk who are looking for a welcoming and safe place, for, well, anyone really. But you need to know that this is a tolerant and caring home. To open my eyes and my life to opportunities that I currently can’t see or wouldn’t expect. For adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: depends on my mood. Alternative 90s rock, Sigur Ros, Wardruna, Pink, some country music, some classical...maybe something that you like and I haven't heard of yet?
Books: I love the imagination, so I gravitate towards fantasy, sci-fi, fiction...not a fan of zombies or vampyres though. I'll show you my book collection...which is real...you can actually touch it, smell it, flip through the pages with your hands. I DO listen to audiobooks but that's mostly just to fall asleep so I guess I'm a little old-school. Give me an antique-type, second-hand, cozy book store and I'll be lost for hours.
Series/Films: I don't even know where to start with this. These'll come up in conversation and I'd love to hear any recommendations.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ok, I'm going to have to make a short list:
Moved to Denmark, learned to language fluently, built a career and life for 15 years in this beautiful and quaint country.
Moved to Sweden, learning the language to become fluent, building a career and life for who knows how long in this beautiful country.
Climbed The Grouse Grind in Vancouver🌄
Hiked up Lomnicky Stit in the high tatras of Slovakia, took a gondola to the peak. We were above the clouds! 🏔
What I Can Share with Hosts
