Overview
About Me
I love languages! As a profession and as a hobby. Currently on Italian - but maintaining my other languages (including my native English!) is just as important.
I enjoy music (I play guitar, ukulele, clarinet, and sing), art and poetry, food, pizza, wine, and - most importantly - lots of laughs!
Too many of us travel lots in other countries but never enough in our own. I have made a personal commitment to myself to travel more in my own country (Scotland) in the next few months/years - but that's been difficult so far because I have such itchy feet! I lived in Vienna between September and December 2018 and am looking forward to my next adventure in Alicante, Spain from February til June 2019.
I'm currently trying to make every part of my life as sustainable as possible, and having the least possible environmental impact - that means eating mainly vegan at home (usually more vegetarian when I eat out), reusing/upcycling/recycling clothes and other household items, and generally cutting down on plastic waste as much as possible, i.e. finding alternatives to things which are usually made from plastic (like toothbrushes), and buying fresh local unpackaged fruits and vegetables.
!! CS lessons !!
- Always have an open mind. In the end, we all want the same thing - to enjoy a happy life!! The more you learn about the diversity of people in the world, the more you grow as an individual.
- If you don't feel comfortable with a host...LEAVE! Don't stay thinking it will get better because it probably won't. You don't need to see that person ever again, so don't feel bad.
- Don't be afraid to leave a bad reference. Even if you're worried they'll give you a bad one back. It's worth it to warn other surfers/hosts of potential risks.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I couchsurfed for the first time in Mendoza, Argentina in Nov 2016 and loved it, so continued during my travels in Patagonia and in northern Chile! I have met so many wonderful, open, selfless and spontaneous people along the way, and it has really enhanced each and every trip I have been on.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: classical, indie, acoustic, jazz, blues, cumbia, reguetón, salsa
Films: mainly action, thrillers, historical dramas, obviously romcoms ;)
Books: Action, crime - trying to broaden my literary horizons at the moment though so am making my way through the classics
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was lucky enough to be able to volunteer in a care home in northern Peru for 11 months when I was just 17 years old - that's when I first fell in love with South America!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you English, Spanish or German, swing/salsa/blues dancing, ukulele, guitar, yummy vegan and zero-waste cooking :)
Teach me some new words or phrases in your language!
Let's play some music together, have interesting conversations (avoiding the small talk!) with an open mind, eat lots of food, stories of travels, politics, history
What I Can Share with Hosts
A love for sarcasm, food, travel, music, photos and conversations ranging from plain daft to serious and political!!
