Overview
About Me
I am a fun loving and easy going person who loves to make people smile. I enjoy good company and good food! One of my favorite things to do is to cook a good meal and share it with friends - whether it be at home, or a hiking picnic. The flip side of this part of me is that I hate to see food go to waste.
I care a lot about being sustainable and self-sufficient. If I can make it instead of buy it, I will make a fun project of learning how to! I also try to make a difference in my community and have been involved in local efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and make the much needed switch to green energy.
I have grown up both in Africa and the US, so I enjoy learning about new cultures and being with people from new places. I love music from around the world. When I am at home, you might find me getting my hands dirty in my garden, or at the local dive bar listening to records with my friends. I try to make new friends wherever I go!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to meet new friends on my travels. I would love to learn firsthand about the countries I visit and understand the place from the perspective of a local. All tips and suggestions are welcome! I would love to learn about volunteer opportunities as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Ska, surf rock, reggae, garage rock, punk rock, soul, 90s brit pop, Dub
Movies: The Dark Crystal, Cannibal! The Musical, Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels are my top 3 favorites. I love British humor, period dramas and comedy in general. And of course the cheesy 80s movies like They Live and Big Trouble in Little China
Books: 1000 Years of Solitude, the 5th Sacred Thing, Another Roadside Attraction, Circling the Sun, and The Year of the Flood. I have really been into dystopian novels lately. I also love magical realism and historical fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One summer I worked for an organization harvesting fruit from peoples yards who just had too much to handle. With the help of our amazing volunteers we picked over 7,000 pounds of fruit which was delivered to food banks!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to make from scratch meals. I would love to learn and share my own skills in preserving food, whether it be through cooking, homebrew or pickling!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories, jokes, and lend a hand with any projects you might need help with!
