About Me

I'm Heather - like the plant. My favourite colours are actually purple and green, so I must live up to the name!

I'm 22 years old, a May baby, and spent my childhood roaming the woods and fields of Cornwall, often wandering the beaches in search of seaglass and shells. A few years on you'll still catch me doing all of that, just add in a kayak or two and a couple of beers.

I love getting outside, watching the wildlife and landscape change as I go on long hikes. I love good company, where you can laugh but also be silent. I love trying new things, because how can you find your passion if you never try it?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As the world is such a varied and beautiful place, travelling it has always been in my heart. Wisdom comes from sharing laughter, stories and experiences with people all over our Earth, and I hope to one day be very wise.

As I'm leaving Cornwall this June to work at a summer camp in New Hampshire, USA, I'll be meeting and working with people from a multitude of countries and places. In my travels across the country afterwards, I would love to continue to meet locals and other travellers to enrich our individual journeys.

Music, Movies, and Books

The best trilogy I have ever read is the Waterless Flood series by Margaret Atwood, made up of Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood, and Maddaddam. Giving a dark insight into what the future may look like, the books really make you think about how we treat the world, each other, and ourselves. I've recommended this trilogy to so many people, and not one of them was disappointed!

Movie-wise, I really like Walk the Line - a sad, beautiful retelling of the life of Johnny Cash. Which I guess brings me nicely onto the music side of things, where he's definitely included on my list!

I listen to a lot of country and folk music, with other favourites being Roo Panes and Henry Jamison, but I also like Grateful Dead, The Derek Trucks Band, and sounds healing music such as Hang Massive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've completed four solo skydives on a static line in the Lake District - it really was breathtaking being 3,500ft in the air with no one else around you, with my own knowledge being the only thing that could guide my parachute safely down. Those jumps were the ultimate self-trust exercise!

Teach, Learn, Share

Literature and reflection, landscapes and languages, compassion and kindness.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My nature has always been to be empathetic, kind, and respectful. I would love to share stories and laughter with you, and will intently listen to what you have to say. I understand that sometimes we need to recharge ourselves in our own company, and will happily sit down with my book for a while - I do not pester!

I can cook and clean well, and would love to help out as much as I can!
