About Me

We are a fun, energetic , very independent couple traveling the world together! We recently returned to America after teaching English in Taiwan for about a year (Heather went first then Jamey joined in). We’re thinking about moving to Spain to teach next.

We are very much our own people - not a couple that will come to your house and stare into each others eyes the whole time haha! We have different interests and many things that one of us will gladly talk about with a host while the other goes off and does something else.

Heather is a passionate hiker, rock climber, and neuroscientist. She will gladly cook for the host and do any sport with the host!

Jamey loves video games, podcasts, and politics. He’ll talk for hours about world politics and video games! He’s new to the couch surfing app, has only ever stayed with one host before, and is a little shy about it.

We have never hosted, sadly, because in America we live with our parents and in Taiwan we had literally just one big room with one big bed and a bathroom (think the smallest studio apartment ever!). We plan to host one day when we have 1 more room in our home lol!

We both love exploring new places, getting outside, and meeting people from all over the world. We’ll gladly be as friendly or as quiet as possible as surfers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We’d both like to meet people while traveling (on a budget) and live like the locals do! We moved to Taiwan to get to know the country and we’d like to keep that idea going everywhere we travel.

Some tourist places interest us, momentarily, but mostly we want to experience the lives that are lived in a place foreign to us. We want the rea life culture, the experiences had by those living where we are simply visiting.

Music, Movies, and Books

Indie type music, pop punk, 90s rock
all types of books really but sci-fi in general. Born to Run, Harry Potter, the Graveyard Book, Eat Pray Love, Game of Thrones (books and shows)

Heather typically reads nonfiction books about running, climbing, gender biases, meditation etc.

Jamey loves fiction books about fantasy and sci-fi and adventure.

We have similar tastes in music (both don’t like country - sorry). We like Dance Gavin Dance, Vampire Weekend, Hippocampus, Chvurches.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Heather hiked up a volcano to do yoga with water buffalo at the top

Jamey moved across the world to live in a country he had never been to (for love)

We both climbed the most outrageously dangerous mountain in Taiwan - just chains and cliffs the whole way around.

Teach, Learn, Share

Both of us are very open minded and love getting into ideological conversations. We both teach English for those interested in learning.

Heather is a rock climbing instructor and is learning Spanish and Chinese. She will gladly cook, do yoga, teach rock climbing, and surfing with a host.

Jamey’s learning Spanish and has started learning about brewing beer and sommelier sciences. He’d be happy to talk politics and video games and books and music with hosts.

Both of us will gladly keep a neat and tidy home! We believe you should always leave a place better than you found it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Positive vibes, interesting conversations, rock climbing knowledge, beer knowledge, English, Spanish, Chinese, neuroscientific conversation, political discussions, video games, music, general pleasant company :)
