Music, Movies, and Books
Films that I've enjoyed; City of God, Dirty Dancing, Edward Scissorhands, The Hunger Games, On the Waterfront; Brighton Rock (the original and New). Burn after reading and the Big Lebowski are the two films that very much appeal to my silly sense of humour.
Music: Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, Amy Winehouse, Miles Davis, Al Green, Bill Withers, Issac Hayes, Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy , Kate Bush. The Rolling Stones.
Books: The Wind Up Bird chronicle [Murakami], Wuthering Heights, Charles Dickens, Bronte, The Beat Poets.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At the age of seventeen I travelled alone through much of Java and Sumatra in Indonesia. What an empowering and wonderful experience. Not seeing any other westerners for a week in Sumatra, deep down did feel a little bit unnerving and daunting at times, but I kept my own spirits high and continued on a five day journey, using local buses and passed through some beautiful untouched rainforest. Finally, I made it to my destination and was rewarded by the breath taking sight of Lake Toba.
Then I got a permit in Bukit Lwang and got to stand in very close proximity to rehabilitated orangutans.
