Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We enjoyed hosting several different people in our London home and are hoping to make new friends by surfing during our global adventure.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We heard about CouchSurfing on the Lonely Planet Forums and decided to take a look. We like what we've seen and heard so joined up. Was a great decision as we've met many interesting people and made new friends.

Interests

Both of us like walking/hiking, which means living in the Colne valley is a great location - lots of different walks right on our doorstep! We also love going out for a nice meal or having friends over.

Heather:
I love horseriding, although I'm not able to have lessons at the moment, (saving the pennies for travelling) and one day I'd like to own my own horse. I started dancing when I was 4yrs old and I've learnt several styles over the years, including: ballet, tap, jazz, modern and ceroc. As a Drama teacher I have to keep up to date with the lastest productions and companies, so it's lucky that I like the theatre - watching it, acting in it and behind the scenes too. Recently I've become more interested in photography, in the hope that I can master the basics well enough to take some breathtaking photos of our travels.

Rob:
I work in graphic design for broadcast so I tend to like and visual media especially film and TV. I certainly have a varied DVD collection! I enjoy photography and have a keen interest in sports. I play badminton but I also like watching football, rugby and motorsports. I also love to Ski and have been travelling annually to the Alpes for the last few years. Did I mention I also like relaxing on the sofa with the odd glass of wine?

Music, Movies, and Books

We both enjoy music and have eclectic tastes - between us we probably cover the majority of genres, except heavy metal and punk.

For movies Rob's the one you want,he has a varied DVD collection - horror/thrillers, comedy, action, animation and Heather might have sneaked in a few romantic comedies too.

For books on the other hand Heather is the person to see, before she moved in Rob didn't even have a bookshelf, now there's three! Fiction-wise she likes a variety, favourite books and authors include: JD Robb, Elizabeth Chadwick, Jodi Picoult, Tami Hoag, 'His Dark Materials Trilogy' (Phillip Pullman), 'Mist over Pendle' (Robert Neill) and 'The Avalon Series' (Marion Zimmer Bradley)
