About Us:

It was a little over three years ago that Raphael and I first met. I had contacted him previously online to see if he would be interested in playing cello for a dance piece that I was creating for an art party. He agreed and invited me to a house concert that he was performing the following week. After the house concert we had an impromptu jam and it was amazing. It was evident then that there was much to explore with each other on a sonic level. We began spending time time together about once a week to improvise; at this point I was dancing and he was playing cello. It quickly became clear that our chemistry was more than artistic and we began seeing each other in a romantic way. Over the following summer we developed a musical project with Raphael playing cello and myself singing. We went from strictly improvising to creating set pieces of music. We began playing small shows around our city of Ottawa and we discovered that people were really into what we were creating. We decided to name our group "The Visit" and we began playing quite frequently. Over the past three years we have played over 100 shows and we released our first full length album called "Through Darkness Into Light". We are excited to be travelling to Europe for the second time for a 16 day tour. We'll be playing in Paris, Belgium and Leipzig and we are so very excited.
When at home we like to jam on different instruments, guitars, ukeleles, drums and keyboards and I'm attempting to learn to play the cello. We are parents to an amazing 6 year old girl named Willow who is the absolute joy of my life.
We are excited to meet people on our trip to Europe and to make some life long friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are on couch surfing because we are going to Europe for a two and a half week tour and we are hoping to use couch surfing as a catalyst to stay with friendly people with whom we can share stories, food and music. We are hoping that couch surfing will enhance our travelling experience by filling it with new friendships and happy memories.

Interests

We are committed to raising a healthy and happy child within the context of a happy and healthy home so we are also committed to working as a team to raise Willow and to play music. We love spending time listening to music and practicing on our respective instruments. We are happy to cook meals together and to eat nutritious food as well as to spend time outdoors in nature. We are driven to perform our music around the world in many different contexts.
