About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We want to meet fabulous folks and stay in fabulous places!

ABOUT ME

Nigel is a quiet and mellow, but wonderfully outgoing mad scientist. You'll find that he is very easy to be around and, with a background in materials science, can answer any of your questions a la Mr. Wizard.
-Heather

Heather has an energy that makes everything fun--unexpected results are a surprise adventure and not a reason for disappointment. Her professional context as a therapist makes her adept at navigating tricky social situations, or just life in general.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We're many years in now and just love being part of this community. Almost every experience has been wonderful. We've come to find that we're suckers for being cooked for, as some of the dishes served to us have become regular menu items in our kitchen! It's a lovely microcosm of the overall experience.

And it's just the way things should be- people from everywhere offering each other what they have and making authentic connections.

Interests

We are both very curious people. We love learning, and having unique experiences. We embrace the weird, because it fascinates us. We are active participants in the vintage scene, as well as the goth club scene. If you want to experience either, then you want to stay with us! We also enjoy giving our suggestions for unique, local, and non-touristy experiences in Los Angeles.

When we travel, we like to eat at locally-owned restaurants, find pubs with good booze, check out the local yarn shops and bookstores, and of course try what ever local awesomeness is offered.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During the summer 2012 Perseid meteor shower we drove to a quiet, dark spot on Topanga Canyon Road and watched the shooting stars. Lying on a beach blanket on the top of our car, complete with bottle of champagne, made the experience surreally wonderful. Sky-gazing has become a regular shared activity of ours, and we decided to get married under the peak of the 2016 Perseids.
