ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small resort town in the San Gabriel Mountains. Over small-town living, I moved to Hollywood with my sister to go to Culinary School. Since graduating with my Associates Degree, I have worked in breakfast cafes, catering companies, and in 2 years worked up to Sous Chef at a boutique hotel in West Hollywood. After a while, I felt that my time in LA had run its course. So, my boy and I packed up our truck and moved to Colorado Springs. I am currently working downtown at a local staple called Jack Quinns. I am very happy to be back on the line, and the people I work with are amazing! Come in for a bite or a pint!

Outside of my passion for food, I have an incredible boyfriend, Josh, that I love dearly and our wiener dog, Karlof is the best little shithead in the world! I love Tattoos, Piercings and doing crazy shit with my hair! I like "craft" bar food I guess you'd call it.. I love when places take simple food (nachos, wings, etc.) and do them extremely well. Paired with a good Beer- nothing better! I am a Mac and Cheese Connoisseur! I also really like Whiskey! Love me some good Rye! :]

I had a "clubbing phase", but that's not really my thing anymore. I like going to dive bars and gastro-pubs. I like playing darts and pool, though I'm not too good at either. I really enjoy doing yoga as well (hatha and vinyasa. none of that crazy bikrim bullshit)

PHILOSOPHY

All I know for sure is that I am here on this Earth now. And to deny myself the "human experience" because someone or some book says it's wrong doesn't make much sense. I want to live my life making other people happy, and the only way you can do that is by keeping yourself happy. An empty cup cannot fill another, so I want to fill myself with love and happiness so that I can share it with others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our home has always been open to strays, friends who need a place to crash. We have had a few travelers stay with us in LA and we both enjoyed their company very much! We would love to host more people and learn about different places to inspire our own travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like indie films and documentaries- mostly about music. I like Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino, classic horror movies, war movies, 70s and 80s zombie flicks, Alfred Hitchcock movies, and anything with Bing Crosby or Gene Kelly. OH! and I'm absolutely obsessed with the show M*A*S*H.
I like ska, punk-rock, hardcore, folk, some electronic.. basically anything with a passion behind it
I love classic horror books- Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. I love Edgar Allen Poe! I enjoy apocalyptic-type stories. I recently got sucked into Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.. and anxiously awaiting the third book to be published!!
