About Me

CURRENT MISSION
After two plus years of COVID, we're interested in starting to host vaccinated visitors again. As a healthcare provider, I've been immersed in the complexities of this pandemic, and very busy. Socializing has been low on the list.
But, we have extra room in our house, a beautiful and plentiful garden, and like visitors periodically. We get to travel vicariously this way. We are interested especially in people traveling, who need a night or two on their way. If anyone makes it this far in need of refuge from the terrible atrocities of war, we may be able to offer some space and time to find a more permanent home.

ABOUT ME

Enjoy wide variety of music, play banjo, best conversations are often when sharing a meal; like going for hikes ; there is always work around the garden and yard - good to get my hands in the dirt.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to be a positive force in helping make the world on a local, national and international level a better place - my interests and skills happen to be in healthcare but I respect anyone who is optimistic and working for change that is good for people, or the environment or something else worthy of a good cause

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We don't expect to travel too far any time soon - but we have space for people to share

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

my daughter has traveled all over the world couchsurfing, which has worked very well for her - and introduced me to this - she has not had a couch to share, so I am sharing back some of the space she's been using for a few years

Music, Movies, and Books

I read healthcare issues for work - and the rest of the time I read fiction, fantasy, mysteries and like movies that have happy endings. I play banjo and like old-timey, country, bluegrass and folk music best

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

January-February 2020 an amazing month of travel around southern Chile, hiking, swimming in a clear blue lake at the base of a volcano, walking in a forest of monkey puzzle trees and touching a 2600 year old Alerce tree.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach banjo. I can cook pretty well and enjoy baking. I can discuss healthcare issues. I'd like to learn more about the environment around me, and about other types of people and environmental issues around the world that I don't know much about.
Tim can talk about all things related to plants and music. He's traveled more in South America and can interact in Spanish pretty well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A bedroom or two. Meals when we're home. Fresh fruit and vegetables when they're in season. Playing tunes or singing. What to go see around Silverton area. Books.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Mexico, Peru, Scotland
