About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Heal the world? Make it a better place? No? Alright, then hopefully be able to see as much of the world as I can and learn what I can about it and myself. Maybe even do some good.

ABOUT ME

Well, let's see here...
I was born in Costa Rica, but spent a significant part of my early years living in Wisconsin. This has scarred me for life.
When I was 8, we moved back to Costa Rica. This has also scarred me for life.
I'm joking, really. But I will say that it IS weird, having that sort of dual identity. Since I grew up partly in the States, I acquired a good handle on US culture, just by being immersed in it. I learned the language watching Sesame Street and learned to read looking at comic books. I started school in Madison, WI, and while I was at a very diverse school we all still learned the Pledge of Allegiance (along with twisted lyric versions "America the Beautiful") and watched Fourth of July fireworks at a nearby park.
I've lived all my life since I came back form the States here in Costa Rica where I became immersed
in a very different culture. I learned to speak another language, but also another way of looking at things.
While I consider myself Costarican -a Tico- I also feel a very close association with the US, having lived there at such an early age.
Plus, my mother was from Chile, and feel a close bond to it as well. So, like the ideas of having bits of the heart in South, Central and North America.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Always interested in meeting new people!

On the hosting side of things, I don't get to travel as often as I'd like. So, in lieu of meeting people from faraway lands whilst in faraway lands, I can meet them from the familiarity of my own home! It's a fine arrangment methinks.

Also, mum and dad always taught me to be helpful when I can, especially to people who are in a new place for the first time and this site is a great opportunity to keep that spirit alive.

As for surfing abroad myself, on the rare occasions it does happen, it's a great joy to meet someone who can receive you warmly and can you teach you a bit about the secret life of the city where you're staying. Meeting nice people is nice, and there are so many on this site!

Interests

Art and illustration, art history and design. Music of all kinds from all parts of the world, MOVIES, comics and plenty of pop culture in general.
On a more serious note, I'm fascinated by technology and it's place in society. I'm interested in how we relate to it, how it has advanced, and how we have changed with it, over the course of history (particularly during my lifetime.)
I like living in the Future.
Things I thought I would only read in books are gradually coming true. What's next?
