About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Currently living in Ha Noi Vietnam as an English Teacher and soccer coach! Loving life at the moment!

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Hector Grimaldo and I am From Mexico!! I am 23 years old and i consider myself full of life and curiosity to see the world and meet people form all over as well! I am very sociable, outgoing, a positive thinker and my friends always tell me im pretty funny.

I have traveled and lived in different cities around Mexico and around the United States. (Saltillo, Guadalajara, Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, El Paso, Orlando, Mt. Pleasant) I worked at Disney World (2013) in EPCOT, at mission space, i was an astronaut! It was a great experience, made many friends from all over the world. Thats when my traveling curiosity kicked in. Soon after I moved to Michigan. After Michigan I studied abroad in Prague in the Czech Republic (2014) I loved the city, the food, and of course the Pivo (beer)! I loved the feel, people, culture, and way of living not only in the Czech Republic but Europe in General!!

I just graduated with my Bachelors, and well instead of doing a full time job and start adulting, I will start the trip of my life with my best friend Ismael. We booked a trip to Europe starting July 2016 and well we have no money jaja But FUCK IT! Just like Santiago in The Alchemist we will go with a positive attitude and look for good omens and people to help us around the way.

We will start in Europe, visit some parts of Africa, then after move to the Midde East and make our way to Asia. Where I have an English Teaching position in Dalian, China waiting for me starting December 2016.

Since we don't have a schedule or time limit we are going with the flow. As long as we make it to China by December jaja

I am very very very very very very VERY passionate about Futbol/Soccer. Aiming for Russia 2018!
Food is the love of my life, ohhhh my the food!! If anyone has any suggestions in the food department I am more than open trying anything!

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life, Enjoy people, Enjoy experiences. Always be greatful!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have had the best time hosting thus far. From the time I lived in an attic (it was sick! I had a dinning area, a bed, a TV, sofas, a bar, and a designated drinking game area, all inside my room. I truly hit the jackpot with that place)

I actually got kicked out of that place for doing couch surfing jaja The landlord was not cool with it. So I moved to downtown el paso with a great friend and fellow couch surfer Alberto Hernandez. Our door was always open to whoever. LITERALLY jaja We had no key, so friends and couch surfers just came in and out. It made life interesting, and not at all private jaja

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first time in Europe I got 0 host acceptances, sooo I thought id invest into it. I believe in Karma, so I treated others the way I would like to be treated when I travel. Now that I have refrences I am nothing but positive that Couch Surfing will come through and help me during my trip! During my host experienceI have hosted some of the most amazing people from all over the world. Couch Surfing has changed my life and I will probably never stop being involved in it. This community truly changes your life. You could be at home bored in your underwear on a Tuesday night, get a request and BOOM! Next thing you know you are touring an International through your city jaja

One thing I did my own was to tour my surfers through Mexico. Ciudad Juarez is right across the boarder from El Paso Texas. I would take my surfers through the main strip, the cathedral, the market and well we would drink, eat and tour around the city. I loved the expression on their faces when they crossed the boarder jaja It is truly a shocking experience If you have not been to Mexico before.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is amazing, I love rock, Spanish and English. I also enjoy music that is in other languages. I love to dance to music, salsa, merengue, regeton, Bachata etc. I play the guitar.

I've always hated reading, but! The Alchemist and The Game changed the way I think about reading. Now I try and always have a book that interests me during my travels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Krakow, Poland. Walking down the main strip of bars and clubs. Had just met some spaniards. Something took over me and I started screaming to the top of my lungs! "Yo no quiero agua, yo quiero bebida, yo no quiero agua, yo quiero bebida" my new spaniard friends joined in. Soon it felt like the whole world started chanting with us! We formed a circle in the middle of the street and everybody started dancing while we sang!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can school you in FIFA, a soccer match. I am very very very competitive. Anything and everything I take as a challenge to win. So teach me something and let's put something on the table jaja

Traveling is all about learning and being open to adapt and incorporate different ways of thinking and doing that you learn from the people you meet. I will never stop learning. My fellow travelers are the best teachers!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am very outgoing, and fun to spend time with. You will never be bored. Well find something to do. Always up to talk about traveling or anything really jaja. I am a pretty darn good cook too! ;)
