About Me

I'm a scientific-minded heart-oriented (very) liberal catholic who also loves heavy metal (all sub-genres), rock (mostly classic), and folk music (from anywhere). I also enjoy other kinds of music, but if I get to choose the playlist, that's what I'll pick.

I'm currently pursuing my master's degree at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Medford, MA.

I have a very dark sense of humor, and oscilate between periods of extreme extrovertness and introvertness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm not much of a traveller, but this is rapidly changing. I love hosting people and showing them around town. I believe the best way to know a city is through local eyes. Couchsurfing is the best way to achieve this!

Interests

I'm passionate about a lot of things, so it's likely we'll have something in common. I love reading fantasy and sci-fi, and I also enjoy some nonfiction (especially if it is about conflict resolution, peace studies, gender and masculinity, or science). I like all music, but I mostly choose to listen heavy metal and rock. I love knowing new bands and, especially, new sounds, so I adore folk music from all over the world. If you bring music from your country, I'll be very grateful.

I also love food, and will gladly help you find a good place to eat in town.

I love playing board games, although it is hard to find the time. Also, Magic: the Gathering.

I have done little RPG-ing, but I'm always down for some D&D or Pathfinder.

Also, I am a HUGE fan of the Football Club Barcelona.

Music, Movies, and Books

As stated above, I *LOVE* heavy metal, fantasy, and sci fi. My favorite bands are Pink Floyd, Blind Guardian, Orphaned Land, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Sabaton, Helloween, At the Gates, and Eluveitie, to name a few. My favorite movie is The Mission, and my comfort feel-good movies are Zombieland, Speed Racer, and Furious Seven. It is very hard to choose my favorite book. I think my favorite author is Brandon Sanderson, and my favorite fantasy saga is The Wheel of Time. But The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion are above anything and everything else. If you enjoy dorky conversations about fantasy, science fiction, magic and worldbuilding, we'll get along just fine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gone (twice) to the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, a metal festival on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. It is really how I believe Heaven to be: everyone is kind to each other, everyone is happy, and nobody judges nobody. Easily two of the happiest weeks of my life, and I met a lot of really incredible people from all over the world.

I went to Haiti in 2015 and got to visit a voodoo priest's house and his garden full of witchraft works. In the summer I interned in Nairobi, Kenya, with a community-based organization that works with at-risk youth in Kawangware, one of the poorest slums in the city (which is saying a lot). I met some amazing people who work every day to improve their community. Really inspiring.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully some knowledge of the local metal scene. Definitely, some Mexican candies (if I have them) or recipes.

Once we grab a beer or coffee, I'm sure we'll find plenty fo things to talk about and learn from each other.
