I just graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I'm taking the summer off to hang out in Edmonton (a city I love and would love to show others) and then I'm traveling with my partner Brandon through Europe come September for at least 4 months hopefully.

I'm hoping to work in the manufacturing industry, ideally doing industrial engineering work, so I would like to tour different manufacturing facilities while I'm traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would really like to meet new people while I'm traveling as I feel that is just as important as seeing the place (if not more important.)

I would also like to show off Edmonton how I see it to anyone who comes to visit. Currently I'm in the middle of a few months of travel so I won't be able to do that for a while though.

I've never traveled overseas before, so I don't have a lot to offer in that sense, but I'm so so so excited to begin my adventure!

Interests

I'm really interested in cooking and using local ingredients. I also like knitting, reading, and biking. I really enjoying getting out of my house and expeiencing the awesome things that are going on around me; be it art shows, theater, festivals, nature, farmer's markets, whatever!

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like independent Canadian music. I like things with an upbeat feel and interesting lyrics.

I don't watch a lot of movies, but I do have a goal to get as many people to see the Heathers as I can, so you might watch that if you come stay with me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a summer up in Nunavut (think really North) working with a community on energy efficiency projects (see my blog sealskinmittens.wordpress.com). I really got to immerse myself in the culture and meet lots of people. That is what I want out of my travel experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I travel somewhere I think the biggest thing I can share is a desire to see your home through your eyes and to help you see it through new eyes. I think there is so much we can learn and experience just by seeing something through a new lens.

I can also cook you a dinner and bake cookies!
