About Me
Hi my name is Heidi and I just turned 30 (crazy!) I was born in San Francisco, CA and have lived in California my whole life. I always have loved traveling and haven't done enough of it., so as I was approaching 30 years old, excelling but in the same job for 5 years, and living with my boyfriend in the same perfect apartment for 2 years, I woke up one day thinking what are we waiting for?...and asked my bf to quit his job and travel with me for a year, and he said yes!
We're friendly, happy people - generally described as positive and bubbly, energetic. Brett is a history teacher for high school back home (and has taught English in Ecuador and South Africa) and I worked in tech managing a Recruiting Team, built and ran diversity and inclusion programs, and other various culture and HRy stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love most music but my favorite is probably broadway musicals - followed by the great jams of the 90s, The Beatles, and pop music in general. Brett loves hip hop and rap most.
From a movies point of view I suck. I am not a huge fan of TV in general, I rather be with friends or playing games (I love all kinds of games!!). So I don't really have a favorite movie - nostolgic ones include 10th Kingdom, Aladdin, Mulan and Now & Then. I just watched Green Book and RBG and loved them both.
Books I do love - currently reading Thinking Fast and Slow (and having a bit of a hard time getting into it) . And the last book I read was The Power of One. My favorite work book for management/general greatness is Radical Candor (highly recommend).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think quitting our jobs, leaving our perfect apartment, and heading out to the unknown to travel is pretty amazing. The goal is to get more comfortable with the uncomfortable, meet new friends from all over, and learn more about the world and ourselves in the process.
Something totally unrelated - I am still very proud of - I built our Women's program at work. It's a global company of about 2,000 people. I started it when I was only 5 months into my career there and it has grown and blossomed over the past 5. I am extremely proud of all the networking, connection, learning, and relationships that have come from the program!
Teach, Learn, Share
We will teach you what we know, and hope to learn from you as well, no matter what it is you have to teach. I recently volunteered at a place in Mexico called Entreamigos (translation: between friends). The whole premise of the community based non-profit is to teach what you know and share it with those around you, so that everyone learns. No matter who you are or what you do - you have something to teach and something to share. I loved the experience of volunteering there and believe this mindset is the way to live!
(I also am usually down and ready to share a bottle of wine, and love playing card games.)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a great cook and can teach you any of my recipes or cook for you. I am also generally good at working - whether you need marketing material, collateral, copy, (really anything written), or strategy. I am highly motivated and can do anything I set my mind to!
Brett has professional experience teaching as well as his TEFL certification so can teach english. He is also a dancer (taught Greek dancing for years), and amateur comedian, guaranteed to make you laugh!
