I am a simple person who loves the outdoors and adventure. I have lived in Alaska most of my life in a small cabin with no running water and until about 8 years ago, no electricity. I teach in a small school in a village where you know everyone and everything about everyone. In the summer I work in tourism and love meeting people from all over the globe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Now that my daughter is on her own at University, it is time for me to see the world and go to the awesome places I heard about from all the wonderful people I encountered during the summer. I love to immerse myself wherever I go. In my younger days, I couchsurfed, both with folks I knew and folks I met through friends. It was always an enjoyable experience.

Interests

I am just starting to dabble more in photography. Besides being a teacher, I am also a dog musher. My dogs are quite often the subjects of my photographs. I love to hike, read, fish, camp, and basically do anything that is outdoors. I love winter camping with my dog team and exploring new places in the wild lands of Alaska with them as well. I have always wanted to see the world, but have had to stick to North America until recently. Sewing , beadwork, furs, cooking, and baking are also favorite things to do on winter nights, as I stoke the wood stove.

Music, Movies, and Books

In short I enjoy all music except for some hard core rap and "new" country. My taste in movies and books go hand in hand I gravitate towards what I refer to as "bloody" shows and books. Murder mysteries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I have done is that I completed the 2015 Iditarod 1000 mile sled dog race.
