About Me

hi, i'm heidi. i'm currently in grad school pursuing my interests in radical pedagogy, social work, poetry, and the church. trying to figure out how they all fit together somehow. i try to travel when i get a chance on breaks and such, and there are still so many parts of the world to get to! these days i'm also sorting out what it might mean to travel ethically in light of my studies in postcolonialism. i don't really have answers, but am always down to talk and share perspectives. i love getting real with people and hearing their experiences and unique ways of being in the world. traveling is often such a good way to do that!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

livin that broke ass student life, so couchsurfing has provided me the opportunity to travel to places i wouldn't otherwise be able to afford. but equally important, i think meeting local people is one of the best parts of travel, and couchsurfing is one of the best ways i've found to do that.

Interests

sometimes i want to dress up and get a fancy cocktail and sometimes i want to grab tacos on the way to a punk show. i love driving around with the windows down. i thrive on spontaneity and am usually down for whatever especially if it allows me to avoid my real life responsibilities (a growing area). i like being physically active and am very competitive about sports and also pretty much anything. i am very honest with people i am close to but terrible at being honest with people i don’t know well if it involves confrontation. i like going to art museums and galleries but it takes me a long time to get through one exhibit because i have to soak it all in. i’ve gotten pretty good at looking tough on the outside because inside i am a great big puddle of emotions
