À propos de moi

--- TRAVEL COMPANION ---

I’m traveling with my partner, Joseph (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/joseph8). We both met in Japan thanks to Couchsurfing hangout, while traveling solo. We became connected when discovering our similar way of thinking.

We are both people who weren't happy in the profit driven system we grew up on, and decided to dedicate our time to nonprofit organization.

--- WHAT MAKES ME WHO I AM TODAY? ---

My parents were both flight attendants, so listening to their travel stories while I was growing up helped me to open my mind about discovering every corner of the world and meeting people from all origins.
I have multi-cultural origins (French/Portuguese from my mom and French/German from my dad).

Experiencing life, learning a wide range of skills, meeting amazing people and hearing their life experience stories, helping & give my time to those who need, sharing as much as I can, and basically... be happy !

My ideal way to travel is trying to experience the real local daily life, understanding different ways of thinking, learning from people coming from all over horizons.

--- TRAVEL ITINERARY PLANS ---

No plan.
Now in Japan.
Staying in Asia for about 1 year

--- WAY OF TRAVELING & LIVING ---

I wish to make my life to become more and more Eco/Sustainable and Simple Living as much as possible.

We are light backpackers and are traveling with one small carry-on backpack each.

I'm an adept of "Slow Travel". In my opinion, there's no interest to rush and run after all tourists spots. I appreciate a destination mostly through unique experiences I can do only in the country I'm traveling in, or by people I meet along the way.
Ideally, I tend to stay in each location for a few weeks and try to have my own daily life there, as if I was a local (going to my usual grocery store, going for a run as if I was in my hometown, meeting the same people, participate to events, ...).
I often walk instead of taking the public transports.

We are now tryin to travel with no money for transportation and accommodation.

I would like to meet craftsmen who are still working with ancestral and traditional techniques and see how they work.

Trying to live a Simple and Mindful life.
After traveling, the big project is to build by ourselves a sustainable tiny house.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I began really using Couchsurfing while I was solo traveling in Japan, mainly using the "Hangout" feature. I met so amazing people and had so much fun.

I use to travel doing volunteering in exchange for food and accommodation through Workaway & Helpx communities (similar to Woofing).
I loved so much meeting local people, help them in any projects I could be helpful for and sharing their life. I often feel I have few home away from home now.

Centres d'intérêt

--- SOME RANDOM THINGS ABOUT ME ---

I love learning all kinds of traditional dance. I practiced Breton Dance and Irish Tap dancing for few years, due to the Celtic culture of Bretagne (Brittany), where I grew up in France.

I have a Bachelor in Tourism and Web-Marketing but the jobs I really want to do are about Human Sciences. I studied Psychology for one year at University before changing my major to Tourism and Web Marketing.

One day, I want to learn how to fly a plane.

I particularly appreciate one to one conversations. I found they make people opening themselves more and allow really deep conversations and know each other “behind the mask”.

What I love is trying to understand people by feeling their emotions and listening to their stories.

I think we are all similar, we are all humans and we all try to be happy and live life as we can. We all have to go through life all together. We were born randomly somewhere in the world, with more or less chance of having difficulties coming in our life. I want to feel how individuals deals with their life and adapt themselves and how a life can be in another culture, a different economic system or society pressure.

Thanks to my previous travels, I often feel I have a few home away from home now.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Either through life, meetings, books, or movies, I have a preference for non-fiction books that make you feel emotions of an individual person. Those where you can put yourself in the other person's mind and try to feel what the character could feel.

I particularly love Historical fiction or historical movies, cause individual stories of the “common people” are unknown and not recorded as Historical events.

BOOKS: I have a preference for non-fiction and my favorite genre of books are Memoirs and Psychology. But I appreciate all kinds of Fictions as well, with a preference for Historical fictions. I definitely have a crush for books that can change your way of viewing life, such as “Le Petit Prince” (“The Little Prince”) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

My favorite quote comes from "Le Petit Prince" (The Little Prince) by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, which is my favorite book: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” ("On ne voit bien qu'avec le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux").

MOVIES:

I love documentaries, historical fiction movies, and movies that makes you feel human feelings. My favorite movie is "Human", a documentary from Yann Arthus Bertrand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdb4XGVTHkE&index=2&list=PLEgA6bEeal3yh19xRhfVt5q5xBohcPYz7

Here some of my favorite movies:
- Life is Beautiful - Roberto Benigni
- La Grande Vadrouille - Gérard Oury
- The King’s Speech - Tom Hooper
- The Shining - Stanley Kubrick
- The Wind Rises - Hayao Miyazaki
Btw, I really love discovering short movies from unknown and new movie makers.

MUSIC : Depending on the mood, I can appreciate all type of music. Really love latin music to make your in a good mood
