One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

NATURE, ONE DAY, I WILL DO SOMETHING FOR YOU
(Date: 2013)
I was born and lived until I was 16 years old in the mountains, without electricity, without WiFi, without cellular signal. I grew up with cows, horses, chickens, coffee crops, corn, wild animals, trees and fresh air. I learned to milk cows, ride horses and live in the mountains without many things. I learned to understand the value of mountains! I remember that one day, at the age of 13, I said: "Nature, one day, I will do something for you", I am sure that nature listened to me and guided me, it is the only explanation I have, of why I found the virgin mountains of the Peru.
*My mother still lives in the mountains.

IF SO YOU DECIDE, IT WILL BE LIKE THAT
(Date: 07/08/11)
When I was a child, during a conversation, I told him that at school we had been asked what we wanted to be as adults and I had answered "I want to be president of Peru" and that all the children made fun of me. He looked at me firmly and told me "If so you decide, it will be like that", then he told me about his dreams, how he had achieved them and how he planned to achieve those that were missing. My father died on August 7, 2011. After his death, I made the decision to make my dreams come true, without caring about anything, or anyone. Why did I make this decision? I felt guilty, every day I cried and begged to see him one more time. He never appeared! Fighting for my dreams, it was the only way I found to cope with his death.
*Writing these lines is difficult for me. If you still have your parents, tell them how much you love them and enjoy many moments with them, because one day they will leave forever and whatever you do, you will never see them again.

I TRAVELED ALONE FOR THE FIRST TIME TO THE MOUNTAINS OF PERU
Since June 12, 2011 I started to practice mountain biking (downhill). My fellow cyclists only wanted to go down the mountains on their bikes, but I wanted to know the mountains, so on October 30, 2011 I traveled alone for the first time to the mountains of Peru, specifically to the mountains of the town of Sanchique. Since then I have continued exploring mountains and towns in Peru. I use a bicycle to explore the mountains and where the terrain does not allow it, I walk, climb or run. In addition, since 2011 I have been practicing adventure sports (climbing, trekking, hiking, camping, mountain biking) as part of my training for my solo trips to the mountains.

I CALLED THEM "VIRGIN MOUNTAINS"
On November 14, 2013, for two weeks, I made a trip to the mountains of Peru. To get there, I had to travel 18 hours by car, then 5 hours on horseback and finally 5 hours on foot. I arrived at a place where there were no nearby cities, between 4000 MASL, we camped and walked through the nearby mountains, then discovered that there are still mountains in their natural state, without human alteration, unknown by humanity and difficult to access. When I returned to the city, using geographic information systems, I found more mountains in Peru with the same characteristics and I called them "virgin mountains". Since then I specialized in the exploration of virgin mountains of Peru. I have calculated 2700 km2 of virgin mountains (only in Peru, I think that in other countries there are still virgin mountains) and as of today I have explored 300 km2, I have a lot to explore!

A HELICOPTER TOOK MY FRIEND FROM THE MOUNTAIN
On February 27, 2016, I was stuck in a mountain, with a friend, two days, without food, without mountain equipment, the whole night it rained and there was no place to cover us. The police, firemen, ambulances and rescuers came to our emergency call. A helicopter took my friend from the mountain. Everything seemed like a movie come true. Search Google: "Heiner Ocupa Cerro Chopitea" (you will find all the news that covered the rescue). I learned that security measures and travel rules must be met without exception, that a guide takes responsibility for the lives of his companions, and the guide (experienced) is the only authority during the trip, assuming all responsibilities.

GRADUATE AS AN EXPLORER OF VIRGIN MOUNTAINS
On June 29, 2016 I climbed a virgin mountain. The plan was to climb for two hours to analyze the terrain and then descend. During the ascent I found a rock wall difficult to climb, I stopped and observed the time, it was close to completing two hours. I had to descend at that time, but the wall attracted me a lot, so I climbed it, when I was in the middle, the wall was cracked, at any moment it could fracture, so I tried to descend, but I could not, the only option was go ahead. When I finished, I knew I couldn't go down that wall. At that moment I should have decided to look for another option to descend. But I saw another wall and another wall and the excitement led me to keep climbing. When the walls were finished, it was 4 in the afternoon, I had climbed 6 hours. I started taking pictures. I started to analyze if there was an option to continue exploring, but I did not have any objects or food, only my shorts, polo shirt and cell phone with 20% battery, so, finally I decided to descend. I looked around and the only option was to continue to the top of the mountain to find a route down. I sped up the ascent rate and arrived two hours later. At the top I discovered that the face of the mountain where I had to descend were vertical walls of fake rock and on the other side of the mountain you could walk without much risk, but that side was not the direction to return home. The cell phone battery was finished. I walked on the safe side of the mountain, hoping to find a way with less risk on the side of expensive risk, I walked until the sun went down and the stars appeared. I kept walking at night, trying to avoid the risky side. Suddenly I fell into a small hole, it was a signal to stop to look for a place to sleep ... (the rest of the story I will tell you in person). I was trapped for two days and one night, with no water, no food, and no survival tools. I only ate cacti and applied all the survival techniques that I had learned on previous trips and during my childhood in the mountains. Being at the mercy of the mountain, alone, with nothing and helpless, was the final test to graduate as a virgin mountain explorer. Now, I have the professional title of wild mountain explorer, certified by nature.

FOR THE FIRST TIME I TOOK SNOW IN MY HANDS
On November 3, 2017, I started hiking to Santa Cruz and Laguna 69 for five days in a row, walking from 8 am to 5 pm, the total distance was 60 km. Starting from 3500 masl, ascending to 4750 masl and descending to 4000 masl. On November 7, 2017, for the first time I took some snow into my hands. I was immensely happy! In addition, I slept by the lagoons, felt the hail fall on my body, drank water from the turquoise rivers, walked through the snowy mountains and was in unpredictable weather. It was a hike without great risks, but the connection with nature was very intense, I really liked it.

I GRADUATED AS AN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER
On December 1, 2017, I graduated as an industrial engineer. After graduating, I have not had major changes in my life, because during college I traveled to the mountains and now I'm still traveling to the mountains. I'm still happy.

FOR 365 DAYS Y DECIDED NOT TO GO TO THE MOUNTAINS
On January 16, 2018, I decided to take the mountains and all activity related to them out of my life for a year. Why did I do it? When you lose something, it is when you understand its importance, so for 365 days I decided not to go to the mountains to understand their importance in my life. From the 16th, I began to look for the answer and I also dedicated myself to work. Without thinking, the search for an answer to the importance of the mountains in my life, led me to find, on February 4, 2018, a relationship between children and adults who traveled to the mountains. I continued to analyze this relationship, until I determined, at the beginning of 2019, the importance of virgin mountains for humanity. During the time I was away from the mountains, my routine took a 180 degree turn, I had changes in my body, I cried when remembering the mountains, I did not enjoy the moments and I became obsessed with achieving the objectives of the work. I was a stranger in my own life!

THE EMPTY DISAPPEARED
These last few years I felt a void. I tried various things, but the feeling continued. So I decided to do something that I put off for 5 years 2 months and 23 days: explore unknown mountains. I went to the Huánuco region (Peru) and after 27 hours of travel, on September 19, 2021 I explored the unknown mountain Minapunta. Before reaching the top, I sat down to rest and suddenly felt an intimate connection with myself and the mountains. The void disappeared.
During the trip, I also made an important decision that I will tell you over a cup of coffee. Also, the last 300 meters to reach the top were difficult, I was afraid so I gave up, but I got up the courage to try again but I gave up again and after descending about 200 meters I looked at the top and said I had no other chance, then I tried again to ascend. The first 100 meters fear tried to take over me but in the next 100 meters I did not allow it and in the last 100 meters I had fear under control.

If you read everything, thank you very much for your time. And excuse me if all the information in my profile is about mountains, the reason is, unknown mountains have made my experience of life on planet earth the most incredible.
