About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Go there!!!

ABOUT ME

I'm an outgoing, fun-loving and energetic Aussie girl who loves travelling, seeing amazing new things and meeting awesome new people! I have a zest for life and an infectious sense of humour, and I don't take myself at all seriously ;) I left Australia in April 2011 to move to London, and I decided to take a year out to travel through Europe and South America on the way there - when else would I get a chance to do something like this?? So I spent an amazing 5 months in Europe (met heaps of awesome CSers!!) then I flew to Colombia in October and have been travelling through South America since then. I have to say it has been absolutely incredible so far! I love photography and my camera has definitely had a workout here - the scenery is spectacular! I've seen and done so many amazing things, and there is plenty more to see yet! I love the sun and the beach but I also love hiking in the mountains and exploring the great outdoors, and South America is a fantastic place for that. I have an obsession with motorbikes and swear I'm coming back next time to SA on a bike! However to top it all my biggest love is MUSIC! (In fact its the main reason I'm moving to London!) and I certainly whet my appetite for European festivals by hitting up a bunch on my way through, including Sonar in Barcelona, Exit in Serbia, Beatpatrol in Austria, Audioriver in Poland and itak in Slovenia. Bound to be plenty more of that once I'm back in London :) So that's a bit about me - if you share any or all of these passions or if you're living in one of the places I'm heading to and would like to hang out I'd love to hear from you!

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life, never stop learning, and grab every opportunity with both hands and do it now in case you don't get a chance again

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently traveling for a year through Europe and South America - its a long time on the road, but super exciting to have so much time to really get a feel for the places I visit. I'd love to meet CouchSurfers who are open and fun and friendly and who are interested in showing me around their town or even just meeting for a beer and a good meal and having a laugh and talking about what to see and do while I'm there. I'm looking to CouchSurfers as a means of meeting cool people as I travel, and getting the local perspective on the places I visit, but I DON'T see it as a dating site so no need to send me senseless messages trying to pick me up... Once I'm done with traveling I will be based back in London in the UK and will hopefully be able to return the favour of offering my couch to other great CS people :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only recently started out as a CouchSurfer on this site, but I have done a lot of unofficial hosting and being hosted by people I have met on my travels. Being from Bondi in Sydney, Australia, I was living in a place which most people coming to Australia would like to visit. I've been able to offer numerous people I've met traveling a place to stay when they get to Sydney, and I've had a great time showing them around.

Music, Movies, and Books

Soooo much music... I listen to anything, but I'm addicted to good beats and I'm passionate about seeing live music. I'm always on the search for cool new stuff so quick! Play it for me!! If it makes me dance its a winner!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving in the Galapagos Islands when I was there in late 2011 was absolutely incredible!! Within the first 2 minutes of my first dive I had sea lions racing around me playing, and later countless sea turtles swimming right up to me, as if to say "what are you??"! It was easily the best diving I have ever done, and such an amazing experience to be in such a unique place and up close and personal with such a diverse and astounding array of sea life. I loved it so much, I want to go back!!!The Gibbon Experience in Laos was also an amazing experience - living in treehouses in Bokeo Nature Reserve in Northern Laos as part of a conservation project for the endangered Gibbon Monkeys. For 3 days we trekked into the jungle and lived in amazingly constructed treehouses over 30m above the forest floor, ideally situated inthe canopy so that we could observe the Gibbons in their natural surrounds. Each treehouse was connected by a network of paths and ziplines which you rode by clipping onto with your harness. Some ziplines were over 400m long and 100m above the rivers below! Zipping through the canopy and flying at huge speeds silently across gorges was a crazy experience - and so much fun for a thrill seeker like me :) we didn't see any Gibbons but learnt a lot from our guide about the region and the conservation project. If you are in South East Asia it's definitely worth checking out!
