Hey! I'm Helen, a student from Spain/UK. I grew up in Madrid and study Drama at the University of Exeter in England. I'm currently on exchange at UT Austin, and I'm so excited to explore Texas and the rest of the States!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love traveling. There's obvious perks to using Couchsurfing, such as the accommodation being free, however the main reason why I'm here is to meet people from all over the world and from different walks of life. Growing up in a bilingual home meant that I got exposure to lots of different cultures from a very young age, and so I feel most comfortable around internationals. I love meeting new people and learning about different languages and cultures, and I think Couchsurfing is a great way to do that!

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is extremely eclectic, but a snapshot of my favourite artists include: The Beatles, Bastille, Jorja Smith, Amy Winehouse, and Arctic Monkeys. Throw a bit of reggeton and Latin trap in there and I'm happy (eg Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Ozuna, C Tangana, etc)

Favourite films include: Back To The Future, Good Will Hunting, West Side Story, When Harry Met Sally, and Coco.

Favourite books: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked at a primary/elementary school in Western Uganda teaching Drama to the students over summer 2018.
