About Me
Hi, I'm Helen. I'm an easy going ecologist/ conservationist turned solo backpacker with a passion for wildlife and the outdoors. I'm slowly bumbling about the world after deciding to take a year off work.
I really enjoy any activity outdoors, be it hiking, climbing or cycling. I am also starting to get into yoga and surfing and I'm always looking for pals to team up with.
I like to really challenge myself with new things, whether it's jumping out of a plane at 11,000 feet or trying stinky tofu for the first time!
"What if I fall?
Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel and to meet new people and with couchsurfing I find I can get to know the character of a new place better. I love the personal touches from staying with hosts, and after all, I beleive it is experiences above all else that makes you fall in love with a place.
I am currently backpacking around Southeast Asia and am keen to couchsurf as a way to meet new people, share experiences and learn about the culture of my new temporary homes!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once spent 6 months running a research camp in Madagascar, gathering information on the endemic and endangered animals and plants there, and teaching volunteers about biological data collection.
Teach, Learn, Share
Maybe I can teach you a bit about the wildlife from the UK (or Madagascar!) I love to bake so I can also teach you how to make some of my favourite desserts.
