Hi!
I am Helen, a 25 year old girl from Christchurch, New Zealand. I grew up and studied in Christchurch then moved to Melbourne, Australia where I have been living and working as an acoustic consultant.

I love living in Melbourne but I am currently on 4 months leave from my job and travelling through Canada, the US and Europe.

My boyfriend, Dove is travelling with me for the first bit (Canada/ US).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've heard really great things from friends/ family who have been involved with Couchsurfing and I think it fits really well with the way I am keen to travel.

I would much prefer to meet locals, see local bands and visit local bars/ cool restaurants rather than "tick off" the tourist must-see locations in the places I visit. I'm hoping that couchsurfing will be able to help me achieve this!

Interests

Beer - My housemate and I recently started home-brewing with the help of my boyfriend (he's been home brewing a while). We've made a couple of pretty delicious beers which I was sad to leave behind. I'm really keen to try cool, new and interesting local beers from the places I travel.

Music- I really like going to watch live music. Lots of my Melbourne friends are in lo-fi guitar bands (from garage/punk to jangly pop) and that's what I am into. I also like deep house, techno (and the stuff in between) and generally just LOVE dancing. I've also played a lot of music and sung in choirs over the years.
