Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Helena and I'm a 23-year-old from Estonia and (probably) because of that rather introverted, but I definitely have an extrovert side, too. I love plants and sunlight, good and healthy food, drawing and taking photographs, moving around, and reading books. I'm motivated by inspiring moments, meditation, and meaningful conversations with people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because I obviously enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I have also an interest to see people's homes and by that, I can experience the culture so much deeper compared to staying in a hostel with other travelers.
Sadly I can't accept any quests, because I'm traveling. Otherwise, I have a small one-bedroom apartment which I share with my partner, so unfortunately there's not enough room for three souls. But one day maybe!

Music, Movies, and Books
The current situation with:
Music? I'm into intercultural and classical music, dark techno, ambient, french pop, freak folk, and so on!
Movies? Filmmakers: Ingmar Bergman, Lars von Trier, Jean Luc Godard. I have a love-hate relationship with the French filmmaker Gaspar Noé. Movies: Beanpole (by a young Russian Kantemir Balagov), Nomadland (Chloé Zhao), Girl Interrupted (James Mangold), Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Céline Sciamma), etc.
Books! My favorite author from last year's reading was Clarice Lispector for sure. I also love Russian authors like Gogol and Ilf & Petrov – oh, the humor! And the classics such as Herman Hesse, Franz Kafka, Jeanette Winterson, Gabriel García Márquez. Favorite authors from my childhood are P. L. Travers and Astrid Lindgren for sure. Also so many Estonian authors, such as Maarja Kangro and Tõnu Õnnepalu.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm a rather modest person, so it's quite hard to say what are amazing things I've done. Currently, I'm traveling alone through Europe and that's quite important and amazing to me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn about cultures, literature, cinematography, and history. I also appreciate the knowledge of practical things. Languages aren't my strongest side, but I'm definitely interested and trying. I'm a rather good listener and enjoy hearing stories and experiences, especially about the things people deeply care about. I can share my experiences and life, maybe a little bit of knowledge about art and art history, Estonia, my views on society, and different cultures.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a smile, conversations, cultural exchange, and my experiences. I can also be quiet.
