Hi there, I'm Helena!

I was born with the breeze of the Mediterranean sea, and this is something I really miss whenever I am away from home for a while.
I love traveling and now I can say I either enjoy hiking mountains or gathering shells from any beach in the world.

I've studied media and communication and I love cultural exchange. I also studied music for a long time and I play different musical instruments such as the violin, guitar, and saxophone. I am very shy playing them in public but listening to live music is my best medicine.

While it may be hard to establish contact with locals whenever you visit a new place as a tourist, Couchsurfing can be the perfect tool to make it easy, and safe.

> I've been studying music for a long time, from classical music to jazz and funk. Music is an indispensable ingredient in my everydayness and I can cheer up my days with anything between classical music to indie pop or folk music from any corner of the planet :)

> Probably the simplest question asked "Whats your favorite movie?" is one of the hardest for me. I enjoy many cinema genres and many movies could be my favorite. Maybe something independent like Finding little miss sunshine? Juno? The perks of being a wallflower?

> I grew spending many afternoons in the library where my mum used to work, so books made me dream and travel even before I knew that the world was split by borders. I truly believe that you are never alone if you have a book with you, and that's why I always try to travel with at least one book. Maybe i would say that "The catcher in the rye", "The curious incident of the dog in the midnight" or more recently "Shantaram" and "Thousand splendid suns" left a mark on me.

On 2016 my boyfriend and I spend 3 months in Nicaragua. Besides enjoying a lot the country, the people and the vibes of the place, we spend some time volunteering in a very nice local project called La Casa Verde. I'm happy to say that we could film a short but cute "documentary" that may help them a tinny bit in order to spread the word about what they are doing and maybe motivating some new volunteers to go there and enjoy while sharing, teaching and learning any kind of knowledge :)

I really enjoy learning new things, as well as sharing any knowledge or skills that I have.
Together we can practice the Spanish you learned in some of your past travels or I could teach you the basics if Spain, South or Central America is one of your next destinations!

I also love cooking so maybe you can teach me a couple of recipes from your place? We can exchange a few culinary tricks and enjoy an international meal together ;)
