About Me

To surfers: Please make sure to read my home section before you send me a request :)

Hey guys!
I'm Helena, 25 years old, and I love traveling, different cultures and languages, which made me join couchsurfing!

I'd describe myself as an energetic, talkaltive and curious person, I love meeting new people and good talks, broadening my horizon in any regard. I have a very wide field of interests, and 24 hours per day don’t seem to be enough for what I want to do. I'm a rock climber and mountaineerer, a minimal-lifestyle-outdoor-nature-lover, a medical student, a dreamer, a music-lover, a slackliner, a hitchhiker, a thinker, a yogi, a night-owl (though I love getting up early too – unfortunately my body needs allot of this annoying thing called sleep :D), a Psytrance-Festival-lover, a faithful friend.

CURRENT MISSION
Understanding the world.
Working on being more aware and greatful, enjoying every breath, and changing my life to being more sustainable.
Always on the hunt for good talks, special moments, new interesting life philosophies, future goals and passions for my life :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is an amazing possibility to meet interesting people, get to know different cultures by inviting strangers to your home that quickly turn into friends, or by living in a authentic home when travelling.

I love to spontaneously experience the country’s real culture and learning a bit of the language, feeling the places special soul, which is why I like spending time with locals during hitchhiking and staying with couchsurfers – I’ve met amazing people and made very special experiences, that made me connect to the places I’ve been in an entirely different way. I’m not too much into tourist attractions but rather like visiting less famous places, spending special time with special people and/or in nature.

I always give my best to be an attentive surfer and try to be the least possible burden to my hosts, grateful for every experience I can make with them. Thanks to all the other awesome people out there who also open their home for travellers!

Interests

I love interesting talks, getting to know new views about life, practicing my language skills.
I love nature and staying in nature for all kinds of outdoor activities, like climbing, hiking, camping, canoeing, swimming...
Sports are a very important part of my life, especially climbing and yoga, also important to me are literature (I love reading books from the countries I travel to in original language) and music (mainly singing!).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Hiking trips through the European Alps - Just my backpack and myself, getting to know new people, walking all day.
- Deciding not to enter university right after school but to take two free years for a voluntary year, working and traveling, trying new things... Best choice ever. Two years were full of adventures, great people, breathtaking experiences and I managed to get to know myself way better.
- My exchange year in Thailand, 10-day Vipassana Meditation retreat
- Hitchhiking from southern Finland up to north-eastern Norway - Skandinavia is so damn beautiful and full of magic.
- Walking through the desert in Oman... Full of peace and power
- Studying in amazing Southern France for half a year
- Traveling through South America, the probably most beautiful continent on earth <3

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll share whatever I can and I'm thankful for anything that's shared with me.

I could teach you some languages (German/English/French/Spanish/Thai), some songs I know... Maybe do a short yoga session together, teaching some basic postures... Sharing some rock climbing knowledge if we have the opportunity, or maybe some basic medical knowledge... Recommend you great places I've travelled to... Whatever you want :)

I'm happy to learn anything you have to offer! Languages, history or culture, great places I should visit some day, songs you like, traditional children's games...
I've learned amazing and totally random things through Couchsurfing, everyone has something to teach! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mainly good talks, entertainment and friendship! :) Otherwise I can teach you anything of the things I wrote about above, and of course you're always welcome to visit my home in Berlin in exchange.
I can also try to cook for you - the results vary a lot, though :D
