About Me

***PLEASE READ BEFORE REQUESTING A COUCH***

Please, please, please only personalised couch requests. It is such a waste of time to have requests saying "Hi! Can you host me? I am looking for a free place to stay. I will be gone most of the day anyway, so I won't get in your way at all"

We host because we like to open our home to like-minded people.
We love meeting travellers from around the world and sharing a meal, discussions, favourite music, or a board game.
We adore it when guests help clean the dishes or cook, or distract our kids with drawing or Lego while we prepare a common vegetarian/vegan meal.
We don't want to be a free hotel for travellers who only need a bed.

So when you write a request, think about why you would like to stay with us specifically. We only accept requests from surfers who respect our time enough to make an effort when choosing their host.

Thanks for reading :)

ABOUT ME

I dream of one day going back to the basics. Living in a small house off the grid, growing our own food, having everything we need, including time to live. Until then, I will continue to be fascinated by immunology research.

We are a Danish family with two girls from 2011 and 2013. We moved back to Denmark, to a small village outside Hillerød in 2016, after living 2 years in the UK and traveling 6 months in Spain and India. We have been taking a break hosting for a while as we renovate our house. But now we are good to go again!

PHILOSOPHY

Simplify!

We don't inherit the earth from our fathers - we are borrowing it from our children.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing, hosting, couch crashing, sharing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Moving alone to a foreign country has made me realize that CS is a big group of old friends you haven't met yet.

Interests

I love yoga, rock climbing, hiking, running, snowboarding, sitting around a camp fire in a Swedish forest, knitting, playing boardgames, growing plants, baking vegan cakes and bread, biking as transport, thrift stores, recycling...

At the moment I spend most of my free time playing with lego with our two daughters :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Ska, reggae, balkan, salsa, jazz, anything with horns and crazy rhythms. I also enjoy classical and mellow music. I play the bass guitar and a little piano.

I read almost anything i can get my hands on when I have a free moment (not too many of them with two young kids!). Favorites are The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho and (though I am embarrassed to say) Harry Potter. Also Narnia, Lord of the Rings etc.

With movies i like to be confused, amazed, and touched - but sometimes its good just to be entertained. You, me and everyone we know. Juno. Babel. And the best series ever, Twin Peaks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lost, tired and hungry in Croatia, we were picked up by a local who drove us to the next town, helped us change money, bought us breakfast, and drove away.

We traveled for 6 weeks in India with a 5-month-old and a 2-year-old.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit and sew clothes, the basics of bass guitar, how to bake delicious bread, and some basic yoga.

I'd like to learn to parallel park, make homemade pasta, and knit socks. I have recently made an attempt to learn Spanish, but this has not gone well.
