One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took part in a Japanese volunteer program, I was unexpectedly asked to arrange a kind of a cultural festival in a nursery school, where a number of volunteers from different countries had to describe their home countries to the children. In a small town of Wazuka, assisted by an American colleague, I had to find other foreigners and to persuade them to devote some time to us and even to share some of their recipes to cook something for the festival. I was lucky to find some Chinese and Norwegian girls and a French boy. As it turned out, the best Japanese tea is produced in this town and it is a tourist attraction. The little Japanese kids and their parents were glad to listen to Russian fairy tale ‘Repka’ (‘Turnip’), to see Chinese dances, to try Norwegian cakes, and to hear French songs. And everybody had beautiful pictures to remind them of this special time, which was an unforgettable experience for me as well.
