About Me

CURRENT MISSION

On the roundabout again...

ABOUT ME

All about me?? Ummm... how much time do you have? To be honest I have told my story many times and I'd much rather hear yours. My voice gets boring after a while :P

Basically, I started working when I was 17, did my first travel when I was 30 - not because I wanted to but because I felt like I should. I came back a year and a half later, and I guess you'd say I was a changed man.

These days I like to accumulate experiences, adding to an ever increasing understanding of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you like - as long as you don't interfere negatively with anyone else, whatever you're into is alright by me. Also, I believe very strongly that we only get one life and need to do the best with it that we can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about CS from another traveller in a hostel but I didn't try it till I got to Japan, where cheap accommodation wasn't common, or cheap. Once I stayed on my first couch I stayed in only one hostel in the next 9 months. Now, even if I had unlimited funds I would still couchsurf, there's no better way to travel. I've stayed on around 100 couches, I think.

Aaaannnnndddd, as soon as I got back from my trip and had a place I started to host. I think I've hosted around 30-40 people so far. I think I'm a pretty cool host. I'd like to stay with me.

Interests

Travelling - is that stupid to say?

I've seen a lot of places, and churches, and squares, and architecture, and palaces... after a while you realise that it's the people that matter. I'm interested in people's stories, their lives, their experiences.

I'm also interested in how people and places came to be the way they are. Some museums help with this, others don't.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a BIG music person. Weird stuff. Most of it you've never heard of and don't like. Maybe hate. But I probably know about the music you like too, and maybe even like some of it.

I often share Australian music with hosts/guests, like The Presets, Cut Copy, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Sam Sparro... all of which I love, and more. YouTube parties are the best :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Am I allowed to save these for when we meet? Then I can wave my arms for full effect. They really come across better with arm waving. Trust me.

Countries I’ve Visited
