About Me

CURRENT MISSION

live deeply, love madly

ABOUT ME

what can I say? I grew up in a government family.. we were never close, but never too far, i guess.. sort of tolerated each other- like strangers in an elevator.
absence of a close family means I take friendship extra-seriously. I really, really love people. all people... fascinated by human interaction-by the kindness people show for each other, just because.
in the same way that color would look much more brilliant, so much more beautiful to someone who has grown up in black and white, this is the way my distant, elevator family has colored my perception of humanity. people surprise and impress me each day with their boundless altruism, selfless care for one another.
time and time again I never see it coming, like an amnesia patient, and I'm moved a little more deeply each time.

people really are, really good. it's true.

anyways, on to some more practical info about lifestyle & junk: I'm in med school. I have no time for anything enjoyable. it's lame, but it may save your life one day!!
juskidding. feel free to message, I should have time for that.. it just might be slow.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to experience firsthand all the beauty in this world, to reflect in some part the resplendent goodness that shines from every corner of the universe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet every single person on this entire site.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

every time I use this site to surf, I guess I expect the worst-- the crazy person, the dive apt, the sexual predator whom everyone unfamiliar with couchsurfing always deems it necessary to lecture me about.. yet every time (every single time!) the incredible people whom I've encountered, surfed with, had coffee with-- have not only defied but shattered those preconceived notions. Every experience is literally better than the last, I've made strong friends with amazing people whom I intend to keep for as long as I live. I love this site like I love this life, this world and all of the people in it.

Music, Movies, and Books

books: the god of small things, catcher in the rye, sophie's world, the awakening, istanbul.
movies: I still like the lion king... it was good when I was 6, and it's good now.
music: too much to even generalize, so here are 10 bands itunes dj has randomly decided are important enough to list:
the cure, 3rd eye blind, the merediths, kent, neutral milk hotel, wilco, manu chao, björk, donovan, piotr rubik

that about covers it... anything else, ask. i love recommendations :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

cancer research, extracted a permanent tooth, eaten a jellyfish, cut a man in half with a hacksaw, done CPR on someone until his heart started beating again, been in a plane crash, a bus crash, a trainwreck, & a car crash, gone undercover with the FBI, been documented as a miraculous conception by the Catholic Vatican

Teach, Learn, Share

I took 6 years of classical latin, which is admittedly fairly useless (though don't call it a dead language!) ergo, I can explain just about any mythological reference you ever wondered about (and literally hundreds you never noticed or had any desire to care about) apart from that, I guess I can explain to you how cell pathways work, or how to use sterile technique when using cell lines for in vitro cancer research, or help you out with correcting misperceptions on american culture (they are many, common folks who seem to have gotten degrees in american culture from television university :P)
I don't attach theory to names well, but I've read & translated a lot of classical philosophers' works so we could potentially have a really meaningful philo discussion too, y'know.. if you're into that..

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belize, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
