ABOUT ME

I like bikes; I am very skeptical of cars, though I sometimes drive them. Buses are cool, especially in Mexico.

I am a night owl. I spend a lot of time reading and working on a laptop at cafes. I enjoy people-watching.
I know very little about sports. I have a dry sense of humor.

I like plants. When possible, I plant a yearly vegetable garden, and grow as many plants as possible from seed. I have an extensive seed collection, including a number of ornamental and medicinal plants.

I love veganaise and brown rice and collard greens and butter. I don't eat much sugar or meat, but I'm pretty flexible.

Hotels kinda freak me out. I prefer to stay with friends, or friends of friends, or friends of friends of friends...

Interests

Plants and water and soil.

Growing, cooking, and eating vegetable-stuff of all sorts.

Unix/Linux, Open-Source Software in general. LaTeX, R, C++, and Postgresql in specific.

Beer, Wine, Aqua Vitae, and all sorts in between. I like to brew I drink and talk about the whole process.

Increasingly, time series analysis (wavelets) and human microparasite ecology. Data-driven computational biology.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like to read. I switch back and forth between long novels, popular nonfiction, and technical reading for work.

Netflix is really nice. I go to the theater sometimes.

WDVX.com and KEXP.org. I get KUNM 89.9 on my FM dial. I used to get WUOG 90.5, and I miss it.
