About Me

I am a writer, dancer, artist. I love yoga and above all else my lover is FUTBOL! I work as Bullying Prevention Specialist in the local school district and I love my job. I get summers off and I like to use that time to travel and I'm just so happy to be coming to NZ this year 2015. Apart from this I enjoy following local music around town Santa Cruz is just so blessed with good music. I love books and November sunsets. I love my friends and my family lives 2 hours away from me so it's perfect.

Love meeting new people learning about new cultures and hosting travelers. My door is always open to good people.

Warmly,
Hemie

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A few years back I was on coachsurfing, mainly to host. I am back on it now because my travels this summer will be solo. This is a good way for me to get connected to the locals of NZ- locals will know what's a MUST for me to see during my visit. Couchsurfing is also a great way of making new friends and I'm excited about it. Look forward to meeting you all!

Interests

My interested I included above: SOCCER, yoga, anything adventurous, kickball, ultimate frisbee, etc. People interest me- I like knowing people stories and hearing about what they are passionate about. I love reading and I love writing even more. I love learning about different cultures and smile at all our differences and the way we've learned to do things. I love learning, exploring, sitting with things that puzzle me, I love meeting soon to be new life time friends. I love all those things.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite artist is a toss-up between Radiohead and the Avett Brothers. Both are my favorite, both are remarkable, I've seen both in concert a few times. Along with these I enjoy a lot of folk artist. I love afro-latin beats I can sway my body to, and I guess one of my passions in life is dancing. Books there are too many to name but basically I've read everything Paulo Coelho has written, love me some Don Miguel Ruiz and Ann Lamotte. I like and read most non-fiction apart from the previous listed. I basically will read and enjoy anything direct and honest. Give me real!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This question/section is a bit loaded and very difficult to answer. I can take this in many directions but to keep it light I will say that one of my favorite memories is me deciding to get in my car last minute to drive 40 mins to the place where Radiohead's sold out show was taking place. The show had been sold out for months basically tickets sold out hours after show was announced and I didn't get a chance to buy one. But that daring afternoon I got in my car with half of ticket value in my pocket $50 and I swore I would get in. I parked my car walked to the front of building made eye contact with a guy whom look like a scout and he had my ticket. He sold it to me for the only $50 I had. It was my best show to date, I found myself into so many layers of elated emotions. I sat in the balcony center stage and it's as if Thom York was singing to me. I met the two guys at the left of me and we are still friends til today...3 years later. I love that memory.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess I don't really teach much, ha. Apart from teaching my clients stress management, coping skills, how to take care of themselves I wouldn't really consider myself a teacher although probably a natural born leader all the way. I love organizing events and I'm the captain of my soccer team so theres that. I like to learn just about everything that pokes my interest. I share everything I have. I love helping and supporting people so if I have something you need I most likely will share it with you. Unless it's my soccer cleats and soccer ball, then I'm absolutely greedy ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my story, my heart, my experiences. I can share my food, clothing if they needed it ha ha. I can share mostly anything, but this question was probably intended to be in more materialistic form :)
