About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel and dance, meeting people and sharing exciting experiences and education along the way.

ABOUT ME

I'm 26 years old. I studied computer science and philosophy in college, but unsatisfied after three years, left and have since been studying dance improvisation. That was five years ago. I am also a teacher of the Alexander Technique. I like warm colors, simple clothes, and being a bit nerdy. I prefer small cities (~100,000) to large ones, and have been told I have a good sense for decorating. I love reading and feel I don't do so enough, and I try to limit the amount of time I spend online. I find myself having difficulty getting rid of books. I cook (well). I am currently simplifying my life.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is still developing, and I very strongly believe that it is only properly expressed in the way I live; I doubt I could _say_ anything that would make much sense. I believe in people, and in community. I believe that to teach something you must understand and appreciate the perspective from which the student is learning, and in the value of avoiding creating fantasies in a world that is already extraordinary. I believe in dedication to what I'm currently doing, even if I won't be doing it forever, and that the largest factor in who we are and how we feel is what we have done. As such, I believe that if I want to change who I am the first step is to change how I live.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After three years of college, I dropped out and motorcycled halfway across the country, alone, to live in an improvisational dance commune/retreat center. I'm told this is amazing, but at the time it just made sense. Since then I've taken a major motorcycle trip almost every year, averaging about 5000 miles per-summer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach about motorcycling, the Alexander Technique, dance improvisation, the mad mad workings of the restaurant industry, and (most importantly?) the cultures that each create. I can also teach about computers, some theoretical physics, and a fair number of odd topics. I'm interested in learning anything that anyone finds of value, and why they find it of value.
