About Me

PHILOSOPHY

Everything flows, nothing stays

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

couchsurfed in Santa Fe & Vermont, hosted some weary travelers in Boulder and South Royalton. fabulous, cherished experiences... wonderful sense of community

Interests

My interests run the gamut, though food and agriculture is the focus of my life both personal and professional. Supporting small producers is my goal and happily also my favorite thing to do. Yummy local cheeses, beers, wines, produce, seafood, ferments of all kinds.. those definitely grab my attention! I spend a lot of time cooking, eating, enjoying and studying food/ag law & policy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music and reading are passions of mine. I like a good movie too. My favorite book is Lolita by Nabokov. I love the blues. Some important people for me: Johnny Cash, Paul Simon, Zadie Smith, The Beatles, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, The Coen Brothers, Vandana Shiva. BB King, Joseph Heller, Noam Chomsky, Etta James, John Lee Hooker. Musically, I'm rooted in the past, but I do have some contemporary favorites: The Be Good Tanyas, The Black Keys, Old Crow Medicine Show, Ray LaMontagne and Gregory Alan Isakov (Boulderite). I'm studying food and agricultural law in Vermont. I can often be found singing loudly, speaking quietly and cuddling my dog.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was young I saw a giant, solid gold reclining Buddha in Bangkok. From what I remember, for years it had been painted over and for centuries no one knew that it was actually gold through and through. That always stuck. I've been lucky enough to see the Shaolin Temple, fjords in Norway, the Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania, icicle forests from a train in Switzerland, BB King live, fireworks while nightskiing in Colorado and the view of the mountains from the farm in Boulder-- all of which make me extremely glad to live on this planet

Teach, Learn, Share

The university of couchsurfing, very cool idea. I can offer English and French language exchange, I am a pro chicken roaster. I can share a pretty thorough understanding of Sociology.. I know quite a bit about wine and Contract law. I have a knack for remembering lyrics

Working on nonviolent communication and love learning about effective communication skills. I enjoy meeting people who are passionate about what they do.
