About Me

Hey Y'all!!!!
Im Hendrik from Germany i grew up on the border of east Berlin.
When i was 17 years old i went to Dallas Texas to spend a 10 month exchange in high school. After returning back to Germany i finished school and started my major in engineering which got me bored very fast. Now i take off a year to travel through the world starting in the south of US and going up to Kanada.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The main reason why i do Couchsurfing is the fact that you can't experience how life is in a city when you don't meet locals.
My friends from America, France, Italy and other parts of Germany would visit me and tell me that the enjoyed Berlin in a very different way than they did when they went to a hotel with their family.
I think every city has the places tourists would go to and the places where locals would go to. In some cases its the same and tourist places can be very good too but all in all its Couchsurfing where you really get to know how what the city is like.

Interests

Im interested in traveling because there just so many different things to see like landscapes, cities, animals, people,.... so i figured there is nothing worse you can do then spending your entire life in just one part of the world.
Also I like playing the guitar and in Berlin I go to many night clubs.
In the summertime I do festivals because I love the decoration, the love that is put in it and all the people that are very kind and enjoying life over the time. Every Festival is like a little wonderland that only the people who visit it know about.
And then there is cooking as my little hobby.
Also i like drinking good beer and red wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is electronic music such as House, Tech house, Trance.
Especial in the last 2 Years i got to experience the world capital of Techno and am just stunned about its creativity and freedom.
Also I enjoy listening to classic rock from the 80s or 70s, some old Country music, Jazz and Reggae and Dub.
My favorite book would be The Hobbit and my favorite movie would be The Shawshank Redemption.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One Amazing thing I have done would be the exchange student year in 2012.
Of cause for many Americans the junior year in High School is just another year in school but for me it was a experience of completely different world.
Away from all my friends and family i would spend 10 month in a strange country with new morals and habits. This is how i got to know a different way of living but also learned what makes me as a German unique. Not everything you think is normal really is normal.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can of cause Share my experience that i made in the last years of meeting so many different people and places. One thing i can talk about hours of cause is my home country and every one who is interested in Europe and especial Germany can ask me many things about life there.
