ABOUT ME
I am a very spontaneous guy. After I got tired of working every day in an engineering department I took a sabbatical and I was traveling around Asia for one year. This trip has been followed by four months in Sout America and now I am just coming back from living in Poland for two years. I still suffer by my so called "emotional jet lag"...means I've got itchy feet all the time.
I would characterize myself as a bright, passionate and very tolerant person and I guess most people who know me would verify this opinion.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I believe that couchsurfing is more than a free accommodation service. Sharing home, time, meals and parties with other couchsurfers is a fascinating experiences.
I like visiting a country for its historical, natural and cultural aspects, but what interest me even more, is to meet people from there, so much enriching than the regular tourist tour !
I love to host people from all over the world to stay in touch with the world outside of Hamburg when I am not able to travel myself. Unfortuanely by now I live in a small room in a shared flat and am not able to host.
Interests
I have so many interests that I can't list them all. Besides traveling (what seems to be everyones interest here) I really am interested in sports. I am a long distance runner, go cycling and though I hate swimming I participate the Hamburg Triathlon every year. I go running or do some kind of workout almost every day.
I am a big fan of our local football (soccer) club FC St.Pauli. I am visiting every home game and sometimes watch even the away games.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love indie-rock and alternative music like Kasabian, Radiohead, Portishead, The White Stripes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Depeche Mode, Queen and especially MUSE (The best Band of the World!!!)
...but once in a while I love to listen to classical music as well. I especially love the great Russian composers like Rachmaninoff, Borodin, Mussorgsky and (of course) Tschaikovsky
Books: 1984, The Picture of Dorian Grey, East of Eden, Of Mice and Men, Crime and Punishment, Blindness, The Great Gatsby and everything Franz Kafka ever wrote
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've traveled around Asia for one year, took the Transsiberian train from Moscow to Beijing, climbed Mt.Fuji, taught English in China, reforested the tropical dry forest in India and floated like a cork in the Dead Sea.
