ABOUT ME

A Finnish speaking Brit or an English speaking Finn, whichever way you want to put it, I would say I am a quite a social person. I love meeting new people and learning about the world and am lucky to have family living both in Finland and the UK, both of which are two contrasting cultures. Friends would say I am a bit quirky or eccentric and I am known for my love of those certain Finnish children's characters, the Moomins and my terrible attempts at a Scottish accent while living in Bonnie Scotland for four years at university.

I am on the site to meet people while travelling. I look forward to meeting people through cs meetings while living in Reims and maybe to couchsurfing in the future.

Music: Poets of the Fall, Enya, Mazzy Star, Celtic Woman, Ben Howard, The Civil Wars

Books: To Kill a Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Ralph Waldo Emerson Essays and Henry David Thoreau essays, The Painted Veil, The Moomins, poetry of Wordsworth and Coleridge.

TV: House MD, Gilmore Girls, Cold Case, Fawlty Towers, Miranda, Only Fools and Horses ( good old British comedy).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked along to the Bronte waterfallls in Yorkshire where Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte used to write. I am a huge fan of theirs so it was a pretty incredible experience :)

Moved also to a city in Scotland I knew nothing about (Dundee) for uni and ended up meeting some of the most amazing people. Opened me a bit more to world than was previously possible. Best experiences of my life so far. So much so that I developed a certain love of haggis and an obsession for butter shortbread! Love the stuff :).

Teach, Learn, Share

If you have any questions about English Literature or Scotland, I can help you there. I can also speak Finnish and English fluently so I guess I could help there also. I am currently studying for a TEFL qualification so will soon know hopefully how to teach English as a foreign language which is useful and I am very good at proof reading, having worked as an assistant editor for the university student magazine so could help with any English essays etc. I am also good at remembering random facts and ideas which can make for interesting discussions sometimes :).
