I'm from the Netherlands and currently travelling through the world for 8 months with my partner Thomas untill July 2019. . In 2001 I also travelled around the world for 9 month and I can't promise that this current travelling will be the last big travel I will make. I love travelling because I'm a curious person and I'd like to explore new things and most of all meeting new people. Someone else's perspective interests me and it broadens mine, which I think is important. Also travelling made me see that all over the world people can be quite the same in a way. You have nice people and sometimes you have assholes, this has nothing to do do with race, color of skin, country you are from, religion, sexual preference etc. To me thatfeels kind of reassuring.
The last job I had before travelling was doing PR and communication and building a network of donors for a Dutch music theatre company called Circus Treurdier. The theatre makers wrote their own plays and the music and recent year also television. It has an abusrditic style and I love it. My biggest challenge was to build a big network around the company of people that support us, both financially and mentally.
Besides that I own my own Pilates company and teach 6 hours a week. During my travelling someone else takes over my classes.
I spend most of my money on food, eating and drinking with friends and travelling. So I could say, those are the most important things to me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people and coachsurfing seems a great opportunity to do so. It is fantastic that a platform like this exists. I recently met a very nice guy while travelling and he mentioned coachsurfing, he is a host and hosted many, many people already. He made me really enthusiastic about it. I think it is not about crashing for free at a place, it is about meeting people and inter cultural exchange.
