Hey all!

This is me, Henrique, who loves adventure, music, learning about new cultures, meeting with great people and sharing all our crazy experiences over a great dinner! Ye, I love great cuisine! :)

I am from Braga, North of Portugal. Been living here my whole life. I'm finishing my Masters on Civil Engineering (wouldn't guess, would you?) and on my spare time I am also leader and teacher of a percussion group from my university
- (Check them: https://youtu.be/kVZ1kwvpT7s?t=1m35s)! I am also in charge of a cultural NGO from my hometown and connected also with my university which main focus is saving our cultural heritage through traditional music and dancing.

These last years, I have also been teaching music to little kids, mostly to Roma community with Red Cross. The instruments are most of them done by ourselves with recycled materials.

Everytime I travel I things I pay more attention are the people, how warm and kind they are ( like a bus where everyone is shouting and laughing out loud or a tram as silent as a church with none interaction ), their hospitality and.... the food! I meantioned it earlier I know.. I also love to ''go local '' and try everything like a local does.

For me traveling is finding myself, its about understanding better and better where I come from and how the world is this big bowl of culture and yet we are all the same!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing to meet new people and friendships for life. I believe that's the most precious gift.

So far I've been hosting quite some Erasmus students while they are searching for a place to stay duting their year of studies in Braga. I get along with them a lot as well as with EVS participants (European Voluntary Service) who might be doing it in Braga or Porto. I like to make them feel home and give them the best stay possible, that's how I feel great! But then again, I am from the North of Portugal... warm and friendly hearts! :)

Interests

Traveling, Jamming along with people who love music as much as I do, spend a good night over a beer and laughing off the most amazing stuff we've done so far, swim in the sea, sun, sun, sun... but most of all, great people :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I am into every kind of music and I guess I work with phases like everyone.
Right now I am really into Samba and African grooves, being in love with Olodum.

About movies, I love mindblowing movies like with good stategy or cleverness behind or with just a too good idea on it like... Inception!

Books I am most interested on are Nordic Criminal books (Yes, Millennium Trilogy!)
And also anything related to understand people, what moves and motivates them, how to work with a group, as a leader, anything related to non-formal education in general.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

2012 - Traveling around Europe with 16 friends during 18 days (my percussion group) while playing on the streets, sharing our music and culture and meeting new people, new cultures... that was probably the moment I noticed the most that music unites people :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn from you all, everything! We all have something to give, and if we end up talking and hanging out it is for some reason I believe. It's because I have something to learn from you and vice-versa.

As for me, I am more than willing to tell you everything I know, share my experiences and teach you to drum a little! :)

With you my friend I will share my experiences, my knowledge, not my cuisine (for your own safety!) and everything you might need regarding your stay. If I am not able to host you right now I will still help you find a good hostel or even a friend of mine might be able to host you. I would still be there for you to show you around and have a beer! I would be very happy if you would give me that pleasure :)
