ABOUT ME

I'm a 25-year-old journalist living in Cairo, Egypt, but originally from Portland, Oregon. I have an independent spirit and have been studying Spanish since middle school. I've traveled across Central America, so I'm quite excited to finally go to the beating heart of the Spanish-speaking world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I respect others' space, clean up after myself, and help out with chores whenever possible. I was raised as a polite person. I prefer couchsurfing because I believe it's the most genuine way to experience a new place.

Jazz, rap, folk, and indie rock. Books and movies: all sorts--I'm currently making my way through the Sopranos.

I love documentaries, and I'm a voracious reader. Currently reading William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, and I recently finished Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls, about an American fighting in the Spanish civil war.

I am intermediate in Persian, learning Arabic, and fluent in English and happy to help you practice with any of them. I've been living in the Middle East for awhile and writing about it for a few years. I also lived in Washington, D.C. for two years, so if you like to talk about politics, foreign affairs (or not: I also love subcultures, literature etc.), I'm your guy.
