About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To give back to the global community as we learn from it! We are having the time of lives and opening ourselves up to many new experiences & meeting wonderful people. One day, we will return to London and settle down.

ABOUT ME

We are a laid-back couple, taking things easy as we travel. We are sociable and enjoy meeting new people & trying new things. Our friends would say we are brave & adventurous for quitting our jobs to see the world, but we're just going with the flow.

PHILOSOPHY

Our philosophy is based on karma, kindness & respect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are only just starting out on Couchsurfing (and navigating our way around this awful website!), but we've loved our limited experiences so far.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although we are travelling for a long time and cannot offer a couch to surf for a while, we like to think that we give as much back to our hosts as they share with us.

Interests

We live in London and love doing cultural things, mostly centered around food and drink! We're both very into music and going to gigs. We like art/galleries and Sarah has been painting murals in hostels along the way. But we're not massively into watching sport, we prefer knocking a ball around with our friends in the ark with a picnic. We have been trying to jog and do as much yoga as we can on our travels, but it's not been going very well! We both care a lot about politics and are travelling to help in any way we can and engage on a deeper level with communities whilst expanding our awareness about world issues.

Music, Movies, and Books

Where to start... All of them! Our tastes in all things are diverse and eclectic - we love it all!

Here's a few examples of some of our favourite movies, in alphabetical order: Anchorman, Alien Quadrilogy, Antichrist, Attack The Block, Back To The Future, The Big Lebowski (and anything by the Coen Brothers), Boy, Flight Of The Navigator, The Goonies, The Italian Job, all the James Bond films, Labyrinth, Shaun Of The Dead, Up (and most things by Pixar except Brave and A Bug's Life), The Wicker Man...

OK, music: Adele, Air, Amy Winehouse, Beastie Boys, Beck, Bjork, Bonobo, Caribou, Chemical Brothers, The Clash, Cornelius, The Cure, Daft Punk, David Bowie, Dorothy Ashby, Elbow, Erykah Badu, Fat Freddy's Drop, Fleetwood Mac, Four Tet, Gogol Bordello, Goldfrapp, Janelle Monae, Johnny Cash, Jon Spenser Blues Explosion, Kylie, Laura Marling, Lemon Jelly, Manu Chau, Massive Attack, Michael Jackson, Mr Scruff, Nouvelle Vague, Orbital, PJ Harvey, Portishead, Psy, Rizzle Kicks, Roots Manuva, Sia, Stereolab, Skrillex, Stevie Wonder, Tom Waits, Various, The XX, Yann Tiersen...

We have to confess to not being very well-read, but we are reading a lot more while we're travelling. Recent books: Animal Farm, Bossypants (Tina Fey's autobiography), The History Of New Zealand, The Hitch-hiker's Guide To The Galaxy, In Patagonia, The Life Of Pi, Money, Che Guevara's Motorcycle Diaries, Regeneration...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We had an amazing couple of months at a small town by a lake in Guatemala, staying with a local family while learning Spanish and volunteering at a special needs school. We ended up running a hostel, having a spiritual chocolate ceremony and grew a group of amazing friends in the community. We didn't want to leave that magical place.

Teach, Learn, Share

Sarah actually was a teacher, before we became travellers - she taught psychology & personal social & health education, so there's that. Now she is more likely to want to teach people how to relax, through yoga or macrame jewellery making.
Henry has worked with the English language for many years and is always happy to help with any language questions.
We both speak enough Spanish to get by as we travel, but we are still trying to improve so would appreciate any help & support that people can offer!
