About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To find meaning through travel
ABOUT ME
I have an outgoing personality and thrive on being around people. I have a diverse circle of friends that I think must come from a broad range of interests and the desire to meet and connect with new people. At this point in my life I'm conscious of my youth and am keen to pursue the things that I may regret missing out on when I am older. I feel an urge to extract myself from the 'logical' and straightforward path in life that I feel is taken far too often, mainly out of the fear of the unknown. This progression from high school to university to full-time work to family and eventually retirement is one of those societal trends that I feel a need to escape from. I want to challenge myself by taking an alternate and more difficult path, pushing my boundaries and learning things about the world that lies outside my current sphere. For me, living and working in foreign cultures presents something I feel true passion towards - removing myself from my comfort zone and taking a leap of faith to see what will become of it
PHILOSOPHY
I'm a bit unsure of how to fill this out but I'll do my best. I've had experience of 'the high life' but do not feel particularly driven by money. I am currently completing a Commerce degree but really have no idea where I'll end up with it! I've travelled extensively from a young age and have now done a bit of backpacking by myself and with friends. I firmly believe that while a personal philosophy can only be taken on by an individual, this outlook is shaped and improved through interaction with others, especially from differing cultures. I travel in the hope of growing and forming my own outlook and believe that this is our true calling in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only surfed in a couple of places and hosted a small amount
Interests
I love a good night out with friends but can also appreciate culture - I'm interested in film, literature, language and of course travel. I work part-time so I can fund future trips away, because it's when I'm away and immersing myself in foreign cultures that I feel most happy.
Sport is one of my passions - when I'm home I surf regularly and play Australian rules football and of course drinking games. Skiing is the greatest and if only Australia had better snow I'd be there all winter..
I enjoy good food and drink - when I travel I insist on the local stuff, anything from Chang beer in Cambodia to pintxos in the Basque Country!
I love languages and can hopefully improve and add to my current ones! Spanish needs work in particular.

Music, Movies, and Books
John Butler, Sigur Ros, Bon Iver, Swedish House Mafia, The Temper Trap, Bob Marley, Chili Peppers, Jack Johnson - anything!
As far as I'm concerned the Lord of the Rings trilogy can not and will not be cinematically outdone.
Love Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie's stuff
Books. I want to work my way through the classics at some point - into the Golden '20s at the moment with some Hemingway and Fitzgerald, but I always have some Australian stuff on the go - Tim Winton is the shit
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saw extreme levels of poverty in Cambodia.
Experienced the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan (there is something about that lunar cycle that brings out something wild in everyone...)
Ran with the bulls in Pamplona
Meditated in an ancient Angkor temple
Teach, Learn, Share
I've taught English to Cambodian orphans so maybe I can help other people as well
In the middle of learning Spanish and my French is probably intermediate.
I am a tennis coach so maybe I can give you a few pointers on your stroke..
Someone teach me how to play guitar!
Most of all I want to be a student of culture, and anything I can learn about a way of life is invaluable to me.
